It's an absolute joke that the youths can bowl this tournament. Not that they can't hang with the adults.

There are 4 men and 4 women with 2 year exemptions.  The reason is to have some consistenecy on the team.  There will be a total of 12 men and 12 women.

4 men & 4 women who earn their spots by finishing in the top 4
4 men & 4 women chosen by the selection committee

They should just have the Team USA Trials every 4 years. Instead of giving people exemptions and picking people from the lot, just have the 12 men and the 12 women who bowl the best, make the team. Everyone who makes the team, bowls for 4 years. No politics, no favoritism, no scandals.

Villanueva is doing so well he went minus on the easiest pattern. His tournament is over. There is no way he will make it back into the top four on the masters pattern. And I have a better shot at being chosen by the selection commitee, and I'm not even bowling the tournament.

Ronnie Sparks is not bowling becuase he was suspended from all USBC compettion for a year due to an infraction that he got called on regarding use of scholarship money.  Sad story, considering most people do the same sorts of things with their enormous amounts of scholarship money as well.

Hoss,

Why do you have such hatred toward Villenueva???  You seem a little fixated on his doing poorly.  Just wondering.

Jonny,

I somewhat agree with you.  A four year period seems long to me to not have new people on the team.  Somehow, maybe they could put in a staggered system where four or six would be replaced each year.  I don't know, just thinking out loud.      However, I do agree eliminating the "at large" bids would help to stop the favoritism that has gone on in the past.  You may even be thinking about the same person I am.  Not that he isn't quality, but I am forever against these types of "at large" bids.

I think the surprise of the tournament will be Rose Brown.  She looks very, very good.

Rose is definitely a good player. She bowls some of the local tournaments and JBT's around here.

I'm officially a ball junkie

I don't recall seeing her before.  (I am from N. Calif.)  But from what I saw of her in the practice during the weekend and the several games during the first block, She is good enough to be first team on any college team.  Even the big name colleges.  She may have gotten some top coaching in the past year or so.  I still think she is the surprise of the tournament.

Yeah he throws it ok. But he is not one of the top amateurs in the country and for him to represent Team USA just because he happened to match up in a lefty dominant center isn't right. This is why I like the way England Team gets chosen. It's based on a point list from a bunch of tournaments.

I am sick of people thinking someone is good because some lefty averages 240 on some cake house shot.

YeahHoss.. is it really Steven's fault that he dominated what was put out there for him to bowl on? If they gave him a wall of china or a sport shot and he averaged 240 on both and qualified to make the team, you take that away from him? You discredit the fact that he stepped up to the plate on what was out there and scored well enough to be there! I love your posts about how you bash everyone, yet you aren't even MAN enough to sign your name to your posts or in your profile.. So keep the bashings to yourself until then!

Should we as well start taking away credit from Rhino Page because he is left handed and tearing up the left side in a lefty dominated house?!?! Hmm.. I think he has proven himself already!!

Exactly Rhino has proved himself by doing extremely well in megabuck tourniesn and winning gold medals. How has Villanueva proved himself?

By the way Steve finished 22. The People who earned their spots on Team USA are:

1. David O'Sullivan
2. Rhino Page
3. Cassidy Schaub
4. P.J. Haggerty

Well he has been apart of team USA before. I believe it coming via Jr. Team USA, but still he has had the coaching from the best of the best so they say! I believe he is on Storm Amateur Staff. You know how many people get the chance to prove themselves by winning gold medals?? Umm.. how about not very many at all!! Steven has had his fair share of success at the Megabucks as well! Don't discredit him one bit!

All I'm saying is there are better bowlers that deserve Team USA more. That is All I mean. I have posted two negative posts on this site and they both just happened to be this week and I probably won't post any more of them at least for a while.
