YeahHoss, why is so surprising that Steven is leading? He isn't a bad bowler at all and from the looks of it with him and Rhino going back and forth after 10 for the lead, I would say the left is pretty good right now! Steven is only averaging 241 at South Point on thursdays...

I watched Steven Kill at last pba regional this kid is pretty good no slouch, Dennis Horan won but Steven was on his heels both days. He was a junior team usa member so i would expect him to have a great shot at team usa. Nice guy i hope him and Rhino make it they both are pretty well rounded bowlers, i wonder why George (MVPBowler) is not up there bowling????

Nut, to much politics for me up there! You use to have to bowl your butt off to make the top 6 so that you didn't have to worry about the selection committee. Now it isn't to bad. I believe it is a little different format now.

If you were outside of that top 6, you could basically assure you weren't making it unless you were on Team USA or Jr. Team USA in the previous years!

How come no Mr. Enright up there?!

I was suprised that I didn't see Ronnie Sparks in the list, especially since he is on the current Team USA. Any info on that?

I'm pretty sure he has an exemption to be on the team for 2007 along with a few other players, but I think they are all bowling this week.

Why shouldn't Pros be allowed to be on Team USA?? This is a step in the right direction as far as I'm concerned. Everyone's goal should be to be a Pro and bowl against the best. The way it is now, you can be amateur, make money, bowl against predominately weak fields at the megabucks and represent our country, all while maintaining an "Amateur" status.

I'd rather have the best there is (PBA) representing the USA at International competitions instead of someone a "committee" picked. The line between Pro and Am is so blurred right now, Why not just allowed everyone to bowl and let the best rise to the top. This is just my opinion, I could be wrong....

AmfTrack,

Now I'm not very familiar with the Team USA qualifying and selection process but how could Ronnie Sparks have an exemption to be on the 2007 team?

I mean at our trials we take the top 6 men and top 6 women and then select 2 more men and women from spots 7-18. How could Sparks have been selected for the team before the tournament is even finished?

Now should Sparks somehow have already secured a place on Team USA without bowling, my question is why and secondly, why him? I am personally not in favour of anyone making the team without even bowling.

Also, while it's quite obvious he's an accomplished bowler, would an exemption not be better given to the clear cut number one in the country??? Forgive me if I'm being ignorant here, but I don't consider him the best in the USA.

The four men that have 2 year spots from last year are: Dan Patterson, David Haynes, Bill Hoffman and Fero Williams.

There are 4 men and 4 women with 2 year exemptions.  The reason is to have some consistenecy on the team.  There will be a total of 12 men and 12 women.

4 Men & 4 Women with 2 year exemptions
4 men & 4 women who earn their spots by finishing in the top 4
4 men & 4 women chosen by the selection committee

If they are receiving two year terms, then why would they bowl the trials at all this year.  I know that Hoffman, Haynes, and Williams are bowling for sure.  I didn't check for Patterson.  Seems to me that they would have taken a spot to bowl from someone else since the mens closed entries.

On edit, I see that Patterson is also bowling.
