Two hand haters check this out
« on: June 06, 2015, 08:06:35 PM »
Not sure if this is old news but, The guy in the video states it's not two hand release. But rather, a two hand approach....

I wonder if machuga agrees...does he still hate two hand bowlers?

At the time of release we are all one-handed no thumb bowlers.

Here's what I heard: "We like to call it a two handed approach".  The guy, who is one of the main rules people at U. S. B. C., likes to "call" it a two handed approach?

I'm no hater, heck, my son is a very natural two hander, but don't put lipstick on a pig and tell me it's a beauty queen.

Two handed is two handed. Don't "call" it something else to try and justify it.  If you want it to be legal, then just vote and pass it as a legal delivery, IF you even need to vote on in.

If not, then just declare it legal and be done with it.

Actually I was one handed and averaged 215-220 and had the highest youth average in Georgia bowling one handed back some 25 years ago.  I switched to two handed around 1993 because my average went even higher after I messed around with it.  Difference between 215 and 230+.  So I could bowl.  LOL!!!!!

Are there any seniors with the two hand style? I know of a bowler who is no thumb and in his late 50's or early 60's locally, but I have yet to see someone in that age range with belmo's style.

I bowl at Travis AFB each month and there is a guy there who is probably 65 or so who is a two hand bowler in the style of Belmo. Of course it's the slowest speed and lowest rev rate I have ever seen for a two hander, but he isn't bad at it. Sometimes he will a Lane #1 Ice Diamond to keep from hooking too much.

Longevity remains to be seen, but does it matter?

I'm not a two hander myself, but if two handed bowling brought me more success, id do it. Id rather be a successful bowler for 20 years than a run of the mill bowler for 40. But that's just me.

Besides, as a higher rev player with a high backswing, I'm very confident that I'm not going to have the same shot when I'm 60 either.

Ha ha spoken like a true luddite. Do you have any idea the energy that two handers have added to our dying sport? I guess folks like you wish they never invented cores or strong covers... because those aren't real bowling balls. I'm not a two hander but maybe you've noticed that you know the sport has lots of problems and ANYTHING they can do to add to participation is going to benefit us all.

Oh yeah and don't waste your keystrokes telling me it's cheating, if so why isn't every single TV show only two handers? That's right because one style isn't the only way to win

/rant

*edited to add the word show after TV, not to change my opinion because you are still a luddite

I ma going to date myself.  Back when I was in juniors in the 70's, when Mike Miller (no thumb) would make the Saturday telecast, the following Saturday, there would be several kids attempting a no thumb release because they loved the amount of revs and hook he put on a bowling ball.  It was "COOL".

The two-handed release is also "COOL".  It also just happens that Jason has mastered that release and can use it to defeat most patterns.  He is in a class by himself.

One thing I have learned over my now 40 year bowling career...BOWLERS BITCH!!!  A LOT.  Too much oil, not enough oil, lefties never adjust, etc, etc, etc.

This is the new thing to bitch about.

These words rarely ever come out of any bowlers mouth:  HEY THAT GUY/GAL IS JUST BETTER THAN ME AND BEAT ME TODAY.

Why is that?

Admit you are not the best.  Admit that someone has mastered this thing called bowling better than you today and maybe tomorrow too.  Work harder, and maybe you will become the best.  But if you don't, don't bitch about it.  No one wants to hear it.

it really doesn't matter how a person bowls style wise. I've seen seniors beat the crap out of two handed and no thumbers. And I've seen less skilled two handers, no thumbers beat the crap of a down and in low rev stroker who has a 230+ average.

At the end of the day, it's the guy who takes home the most money. And many times it's not the two hander or the no thumber. That's why I didn't understand why Machuga had a tourney that denies two handers. It seems he hates the two hand style.

I have one question. Why do people hate two handed bowlers so much? Some critics say it's not real bowling, but yet we have the exact same objective as other bowlers. I can create the same amount of revs on the ball one handed that I do with "two".

The same reason right hander's bitch about left hander's...
