Where do you Rank in Average?
« on: April 07, 2009, 10:58:35 PM »
With the current league bowling season about to conclude or for those of you who's leagues are already done, where do/did you rank as far as average in your bowling center: Top 10, Bottom 10 middle of the pack?

Just curious as to how others on this site rank in their respective leagues.

With about 4-5 weeks left I currently rank 4th with a 229 average, the top 2 guys are battling it out with averages hovering around 238-240. 240 would break our state record(239.xxx), which both have a legitimate chase at breaking.

Gotta love FIGJAM! lol

I bowl at a small 8 lane house with old wood lanes that you start out 10-5 and by the end you're throwing way down and in.  The highest average is 197 and I'm in the top 10 (out of 40 bowlers) with my little 185 average.  From what I hear from other bowlers that bowl at other houses in the area on synthetic, they average 10-20 pins higher.

I am number 2 at 228 in our association. The highest average is 235 kind of weird he averages 235 on one night then the other night he bowls same house very next night is in the 2teens. Probably about 10 people in the 220s around here. I average more at the house everyone gripes about the shot being inconsistent the other house where the 235 average is seems to be a super super easy shot and I only average 224 there its weird its like the shots so easy I dont even try or something.

In the one league I had enough games in to actually count, I had the 2nd highest average at 225, while first was 226.  Shot 736 in the last week to move up, but he shot 670 something just to stay there.

I believe my bowl.com average will show up as 224 though?

I feel like I've thrown the ball better this year than last year, yet my average has gone down!  I've had no in-between this year.  I've either thrown the ball great and had a great ball reaction, or thrown it just OK, but had no look at the pocket.  Not much to FIGJAM about this season except for my 800 early in the year.

1) Super easy shot on Tuesday nights that breaks down and gets really weird the second half of the night, I was as high as 234 earlier this season, down to 227 now!  2) Saturday nights, unpredictable second-shift shot where they run the heads for us, but don't do anything else to the lanes, I've struggled all season there save two or three good weeks, only 214, 3) Sunday nights, we get the leftovers from an adult/child league, some weeks they're great, some nights they're just awful, right around 219-220.  I'm not in the top 3 averages for that LEAGUE, much less the house, in any of these.

I love these posts when I can just post the links to my leagues...

Monday: Not posted on League Secretary...
I am averaging 231 in that league. Im 3rd or 4th. 1st is Jim Tomek Jr. 2nd is Jonathan Bower.

Wednesday: (not enough games to qualify for high average, but Im on team #5)
http://www.leaguesecretary.com/LeagueFilesStandings.aspx?LID=18252
8 Team scratch league. I would be 2nd in average. Darryl Bower is high average---I believe he won the RPI twice and also the True Value Open in the mid 80s. Still throws it pure even with a wrist that is just trashed.

Thursday:
http://www.leaguesecretary.com/LeagueFilesStandings.aspx?LID=18597
Handicap, team handicap. High Average in a drinking league.

Friday:
http://www.leaguesecretary.com/LeagueFilesStandings.aspx?LID=39183
Handicap League, head to head points with handicap based on 210 (most of my matches are scratch or close to it). 2nd high average in a league full of Trindle homers.

Sunday: PBA Experience
http://www.leaguesecretary.com/LeagueFilesStandings.aspx?LID=12878
6th of 24 in average at 200. 4 of the 5 above me, exclusively bowl PBAX leagues.

I am pretty happy, even the numbers are not spectacular. In traveling league I made 34 games with an average of 182,85 - an improvement of +5 compared to last season. Some tournaments went better, and I became vice club champion in my performance class in this season's club championship. I got into the money ranks of 2 tournaments, won one with a team (and got disqualified in a dubious manner), I am quite happy with my performance. One official tournament is still coming up next weekend, but this will most probably be the last sanctioned games of the season (for a total of about 80 sanctioned games, which will be the basis of next season's book average, I expect to end up in the 180-190 average range)

In my league team/division I have been the best player of the season, what came as a small surprise. In my club I am ranking 21st of 79 active players.

Among Germany's 1.529 registered WBU bowlers I currently rank at #377, but there are some games still missing in the statistics, it should be a bit better than that.

the house i bowl my mixed league in has 30 year  old wood lanes that are in excellent shape. the oil pattern however is 39' and it's a fairly even blend....not much crown at all. i'm the high righthander in the house at 219. there is a lefthander that's averaging 220. i'm the only person with two 300 games this season. the house i bowl my men's scratch league in has 50 year old wood lanes with laneshield overlay. the top 5 averages are by lefthanders...the highest near 230. i'm averaging 219 on a top hat.....tons of oil from 10 to 10 and very dry outside. there atre only several righthanders that average higher than me. i've done fairly well....290 game, 774 & 772 series.

I may be in the top 10 in my league, but I'm not sure.

In our house? I'm not even close. I'm well above the midpoint but I'm not in the elite group.

In our association? El-Oh-El.

Thats right buddy---I'm a Figjammer all the way. You know bowling around PBA guys makes you better or something, whatever. Just cuz you want your Harry Ballsonme, doesnt mean you should bash my reply. Somebody asked a question, I gave him the answer the best way I know how---with facts. What did you offer that was productive to this post???

I figured out that the average bowler in our league is about 190 average, so I am just above average, AKA middle of the pack.

You might "SuK" otherwise, but congratulations on the Lane#1 average increase. And btw, I like the attention to detail in the precise average calculation. A well deserved "FIGJAM".....
