Which manufacturer would you choose?
« on: December 15, 2011, 11:26:01 AM »
During league last night, we all got into a heated debate on what company would be the best to build an arsenal around. I was intrigued by how many people chimed in so I figured I would post the question on here.

This is a totally hypothetical question. Its not whether you should or shouldn't stick with one company.

If you were to build an arsenal with one company and one company only, who would you choose?

I picked Track only because of the numbering system.

Most of my arsenal is built around Storm/Roto Grip and they both have a great lineup of products.  My newest stuff is Ebonite and have 1 ball that I am picking up from Track.  You really can't go wrong with either of those 4 brands I mentioned as they have a complete lineup.

My arsenal

Heavy Oil: Storm Virtual Gravity Nano: 2000 AB
Medium-Heavy Oil: Storm Anarchy: 1500 polished
Medium-Heavy Oil: Ebonite Vital Energy: 4000 AB
Medium Oil: Roto Grip Nomad Dagger: 1500 polished

Medium-Light Oil: Roto Grip Rising Star: 1500 polished
Current Ball Arsenal
Heavy:
MOTIV Jackal Legacy
MOTIV Mythic Jackal

Med-Heavy:
MOTIV Trident Odyssey
MOTIV Forge Fire
MOTIV Covert Revolt

Medium:
MOTIV VIP ExJ Sigma
MOTIV Sigma Sting
MOTIV Pride Solid

Medium-Light
MOTIV Venom Shock
MOTIV Tribal Fire

I too agree with others who have picked Storm. Though I have the newer guys in my bag (motiv and DV8), I'm still drawn back to Storm. Right now, the Victory Rd. pearl, Heat solid, and Breeze solid match up really well for me and the surface I bowl on.

Brunswick for me. I've used it a lot the past several years with great success. I've thrown a lot of other equipment as well and there is plenty of great stuff out there. With most other manufactures it has been a ball here or there that I really liked, but not enough for a full arsenal. With Brunswick it has been.

I have used Seismic for the past few seasons and have had great sucess, So I would stay with Seismic.

For me Storms gears is to strong off the spot and I have never matched with it well, Seismic's product is smoother off the spot yet still angular enough to turn the corner. Seismics gear carries like a dream and has no shortage of hitting power no matter how deep or how many boards you are covering.

For whatever reason , Ebonite has always rolled best for me.

If I could only do one company it would be track. They all ways match up well and have worked great for me. Also the longevity  of them is amazing. Storm would be second. They have all bases covered in the line up. They just don't all ways match up well with me, excluding the Nano. It's great!

My vote goes to 900 Global. There are only 3 balls I roll that are not 900 and one of those is AMF. I do have an old original Eraser and a long pin Avalanche that go with me to travel league or events where I know the lanes may be fried. I have built my arsenal from San Antonio and have no regrets. The two mentioned above I owned prior to switching to 15 lb and making the move back to balls made in Texas. I loved Columbia when it was made here but did not have much luck once they moved, so was looking for that fit again. Found it from the plant my old balls were made in.

Roll with 900 Global.

Made in Texas!

Ebonite International own Hammer, Columbia and Track.  900 Global does not own any of AMF, Lane#1 or Seismic..

Just wanted to clarify that :)

Picking Ebonite doesn't give you the umbrella of the other companies cause they are all separate even though Ebonite owns all the other brands!! It would be like saying 900 Global and using AMF, Lane #1, Seismic, 900 Global,  Etc.....

Honestly go with whatever looks best! I know this sounds dumb but over the years you see many greats like walter ray throw alot of different companies and brands. Mika throws ebonite but throw alot of balls from each brand of there line. As long as you have a smooth swing and can make great shots reguardless of the company you can use drilling and surface to get a ball to do what you want. Last year at the cheetah you saw people throwing a taboo on the shorts oil pattern and this year at the mexico city pattern on TV you saw CBD throwing a lower end shooting star.

Bottom line every brand has enough stuff from top of the line to bottom of the line where a great player and the right drilling and surface fits could do anything on any pattern they wanted.

But if i had to pick a company it would be storm.  if it was one brand it would be Roto Grip

I would have to stick with Track on this one. But I would mix it with a few olders balls with some of the current ones that are out now.
