Who r these urethane idiots?
« on: April 15, 2010, 06:13:06 AM »
I keep hearing about pple bowling on ths with urethane and plastic balls. I wish some of these idiots bowled near me, so I could crush them with my reactive equipment! lol.

This topic doesn't shock me, considering the source. Then again, he just contradicted himself by saying he averaged 220 back in the day with a Yellow Dot, and yet claims "no one" averaged anywhere near that back then, only 190s.

You don't need urethane for less. Yes urethane works and is fine and can easily cover a lot of boards same as reactive if you have some hand in the ball.

Just watch ESPN classic and see PB III, Walter Ray, Bob Learn, and many others hooking the ball as much as they do now on tv 20+ years ago.

You can also drill reactive bowling balls differently to get a very similar reaction where the ball is not a big skid flip reaction but has a lot more roll with very smooth backends.

I recently drilled up a Purple Power Groove and went through and took the shine off with 2000 grit wet sanded.

The ball is drilled very aggressive but with the cover stock not being super aggressive and the shine being knocked off it rolled amazing. When compared to the Natural Urethane it was much smoother and much easier to play further right then the Natural.

Then when hit with a little polish I can easily open the lane up and have a stronger skid flip reaction. Best of both worlds and its reactive.

Learn how to drill your reactive balls properly and u wont need urethane. It is possible to make a ball like a scout or tornado warning react almost like urethane with the right drilling.

this is a great point, I have a Ravage VII and Craze drilled to be weak and they could be used in place of Urethane.

But I still like to have urethane in the bag.

Overall a very stupid statment.

Personal preferance is all that matters. In this case you think reactives are FAR more superior then anything else and always will be, until you get your ash handed back to you in a tournament by some 180 average bowler using urethane..... Don't think it will happen, think again. Then again you'll prolly cry wolf and want this cat rerated or DQed because he used urethane.

Last night on our pair 685 with a liberator and 692 with a big blue plastic. My 614 with reactive didn't quite keep up. Bowling is like looking at a road map. Point A to point B can be done many different ways.

I just drilled up a mint Brunswick Black Beauty and rolled 6 straight perfect games with it - my review is around here somewhere...  Reactive is for sissy fluffers like Jeffrevless and women.

I carry an old Ebonite Blue Turbo for those shots that are running to avoid shooting the 150 game that seems to happen all too frequently..It has saved me from ruining an otherwise decent series..Do I think urethane is superior to reactive..no..but, there is a place for it in my game..

You sir are a maroon.

On some shots, Urethane is much superior to Reactive Resin.
On other shots, Particle is much superior to Reactive Resin.
And on other shots, Reactive Resin is superior to both.

If you would have tried using Reactive Resin on the shot put our for the Plasitc Ball tournament, I guarantee you would have gotten run over, you would have gotten stomped like a narc at a biker rally.
If you would have tried throwing Reactive Resin during a few of the Arena finals of the WSOB, the same would have happened, that's why the 2 gentlemen rolling for the title were both throwing Urethane.

My last 6 games with my Sumo on a THS pattern: 225, 253, 247, 269, 238, and 268, that's a 250 average since I am sure you are challenged in that area. I'll take your money any time you are ready to lose it.
