Why do YOU get tired when bowling?
« on: February 08, 2007, 12:11:20 PM »
I keep hearing about people that are getting tired while bowling. Im 5'11 165. I am skinny and somewhat Athletic. I throw a 16# ball. Everytime I do an all you can bowl, I bowl at least 25-30 games if Im by myself and after that Im ready to bowl more!

Can anyone else bowl more than 10-15 games without getting tired or how many people can actually bowl more than 3 games a day?

I used to get a little tired after 3 league games. Strated working on a free arm swing in practice and surprise, I don't get tired anymore. Feel like I can bowl until they shut the lights off. Holding the ball back and trying to muscle it on the follow through must have chewed up a lot of energy.

I dont get tired from bowling. i can bowl 10 to 15 games a day no problem. Now lets look at why i get tired when i bowl league, it isnt the bowling. It is working all day before i bowl, it is playing with my daughters before i go bowl. I will say when i am done bowling league i al tired but not that kind of tired, i am exhausted from other things.  If you get tired throwing a ball you ball weights to much or you are having health issues.

I'm usually good for about 12 games.  Sometimes my fingers get sore - not sure if its because of the inserts or the fit - some inserts I couldn't get my finger down to the first crease.

Since I switched to a new driller, I don't think I've had a problem with the fingers (seems my previous guy wasn't drilling the holes big enough - maybe his 31/32 bit was worn down) - not really sure since I haven't been able to bowl much the past few months.

10 games is a piece of cake.  Most I've done is 20, but I could've easily done much more.

For me it is because:

1.  I have partially torn cartilage in my left knee; bad for a RH bowler.

2.  I am getting older (30 this year).  I have noticed a difference in my recovery rate the last couple of years.

3.  I am not used to it any more.  I used to do the 10-20 game thing several times a week when I was learning, around 10 years ago.  Now, leagues are the only practice I get any more.

I have gotten used to bowling more often however, because I am in 4 leagues this year and that is the most I have ever joined in one season.  Also more tournaments this year, and I have had a couple that lasted 10+ games, and I held up ok.

The day after the tourney is over is quite a different story these days.

I don't get tired physically, I do get tired mentally, especially when I have to hear guys that cant shoot 150 on a pba pattern tell me how they rule the bowling world. The Hose has really changed my outlook on bowling in the last 12 months!!

I've only ever done around 10-12 games on the same day. I did my first ever tournament in 2003 & i was shattered after the 8 game 1st round (didnt make it through) Did the same tournament in 2005 & was tired out again (didnt make it to round 2 again)

Then i converted to hook bowling & did the 2006 tournament & made it through to round 2. I was fired up & needed a 210 average in 4 games. Strike, strike, spare, strike, strike, then split, split, split & then i just felt really tired & failed to make it into round three because i felt exhausted after that.

For me it depends if i'm getting the marks & results that i want. If i dont then i feel myself getting tired out no matter what.
