Would you do this for a free columbia freeze?
« on: April 19, 2010, 10:17:12 AM »
We have a scratch singles  summer league coming up where its $15 / week, ( 4 games ) ..  Heres the deal They give you a brand new freeze drilled up, and in that league the freeze is the ONLY ball anyone is allowed to roll, ( no other strike or spare balls )  So far there are 50 ppl in and theres still another month before it starts .. heres the flier.. Sounds like it could be a fun little change

Sounds like an interesting league.  The Freeze is a great ball, and you get a lot of performance for an entry-level price.  I've seen leagues in my area that are a 2-ball challenge, but I've never seen one quite like this.  Interesting.

Other than getting a free ball, whats the point of the league.  Your bowling on a house shot, so it''s not a challenge nor is anything I would call "classic".

It''s not a weak reactive ball, it''s still a bomb at the pins.  So this would not be about shot making, or anything that would be an attempt to make the game "pure".

Seems like its a good way to get a good cheap ball.  Other than that, not real competitive value or point trying to be achieved.

Well its 4 games, its just a "fun league" , yea its a THS , but then again so is 90% of the leagues in the country..  I only have a Diamondback, now the freeze and a T zone..  so Im not ready for sport patterns yet anyways

yea it seems fun.. For sure levels out the playing field a bit EH , just a fun little house league, thats all/./

So this might actually work out good for me as well, since I was looking for a less aggressive polished ball to compliment my Diamondback.. Even tho this is more aggressive than the slingshot I was looking at , maybe Ill just drill it a little weaker .. When the lanes dry up my DB always hits high and has trouble.. So hopefully this is the light oil ball ive been looking for

Yea I hear ya man, Ive heard lots of good about it, so it was worth a shot.. Also It just gives me more practice with different types of balls , so I can learn the conditions and how to throw again .. Its been a few years since Ive been on leagues, so thats why I decided to do this league instead of the summer sport league.. Which would suck anyways with 1 strike ball

Sounds fine to me.  For $175 you get to bowl 40 games, and get a new ball with drilling.

Hope the pro shop has lots of different colored grips and slugs - there's going to be a lot of the same ball rolling around the ball return!

haha yup.. so far there are 52 freezes! they are expecting 100 ppl on the league, so Yea its gonna be a mess of freezes for sure.. I dont use inserts so that might help me a bit, but if I did I would be using red white and blue ..  I really am excited for this dumb league and I dont know why lol

Sounds like fun.  If I were bowling the league I would try out different releases, etc. just to mix it up.

I would do this in a second!  Who cares if it's THS, unless you can average 300 on THS there's still room for improvement!  Plus it sounds like a lot of fun!

I think it would be more challenging with 1 Plastic ball per person drilled any way including Illegal! Lay out a US Open pattern and let the 4 letter words fly!

I would put a huge hole in it and put fishing weights in it and plug it.  The only four letter words would be coming from my opponents.

Put the U.S. Open pattern on some very worn wood lanes and plastic will probably work.

Any ideas on how to drill this weak, so I dont end up drilling a polished version of my DB?

I have no idea how to drill it actually, so anything that would make it compliment my Diamondback would be great
