X-Out Ball vs. Regular Ball

Hey guys I'm looking to replace a ball in my arsenal that probably has 600+ games on it.  It's lost some reaction and Im looking to replace it with a new one.  Problem is, the ball is discontinued and Ive only found one NIB one, but it's an x-out because it has a 5" pin.  The top weight is normal and the only difference is the long pin.  My current ball is drilled pin up and is approximately 5 inches from my pap... Could I get the same reaction out of the x-out ball or will it be considerably longer down lane  because of the pin distance?  If it is longer... Can I get away with drilling the ball 4 inches from my pap to bring it closer?  Help me out here

might want to post what ball you want, somebody here might be able to help you get exactly what you want.

Symmetric vs. Asymmetric will make a slight difference too.  If you're driller knows what he's doing a 5" pin should be no problem.  Plus you should be able to get that ball cheaper than one that isn't a blem.

It's a Rival... They have one for about $75 shipped and it has a 5 inch pin.  If someone here has a nib Rival for cheaper... By all means, let me know

I could be wrong but I am under the impression that pin length on a symmetric ball is a lot less important than asymmetric.  All that it will effect is the ending static weights.  With that said, a 5" pin is hardly an "x-out", it's right on the borderline of being a 1st quality.  Super short pins are the problematic ones a 5" pin should be easy to duplicate a reaction with.

The only thing a 5" pin out distance really affects is the ability to use certain layouts without a balance hole.  If you don''t mind a balance hole it makes no difference.  The first thing I would do is check the cg location and top weight on my dodo scale.  --  JohnP

my dad has the rival and i dont think he likes it very much probably has 20 games on it if you were looking for a cheaper route possibly trade for something?
