Motiv musthaves

What are some must haves if you were going to put together a Motiv arsenal? I would imagine a Shock, Revolt, and Primal would be on the list, but what are the must haves? Tag Vs Panic?

Doom, spreading your wings out a little? Is something you're needing not in the 900 Global/AMF lineup?

I'm not digging the new covers poured in Utah and Motiv has been catching my eye in the last couple of months. Also, the whole Pearl/hybrid/solid thing is getting old. They seem to be doing things very Storm like, and if I wanted to throw Storm, I would. Some of the new pieces are good, great even, but I'm not a Utah guy for a reason, mainly because I don't match up.

Been watching this post for a couple of days
I use to be a 900 global guy back when the Lunatic with the crazy cone core was out. I'm not going back to them again. The Chemical-x and the boost look sweet.

I bought the Panic as my first Motiv ball, then the Shock. I rally like them a lot, talk about carry and being predictable for me.

Then I wanted something stronger, and bought the Primal Rage Remix, just rolled it an hour yesterday at clinic. I was going to go Tag and ball down.
Now I need a new spare ball. Artic Sniper perhaps

I can't offer a must have at the moment.

In hind sight, I'm wondering what the outcome would of been if I bought the Forza first, then the Forza Redline, and started with a pair of 2.50 / .051 balls instead of 2.48 / .034. I bought the Shocks as sort if a IQ Tour to play with.

ive seen the boost around and im quite impressed with it.

I started with the forza first and man it is D best ball i ever owned. oil no oil works on all patterns for me. i then got me a shock and it is a perfect step down for me after the forza.

It seems to me from personal observation and anecdotal evidence that Motiv's two "must have" balls are the Venom Shock and the Primal Rage. The Sigma Sting is also up there, though personally I never liked the ball reactions that I saw with it (though the bowlers themselves loved it, so what do I know?).

Where would the Sigma Sting fit when measured against the Forza and the Shock?

I would say more angular than both and will fall in between in terms of strength.

It appears Motiv is trying to reproduce that spot in the lineup vacated by the Sigma Sting with the new Forza Redline.  Only time will tell how successful it is.

I don't want to put words in Doom's mouth but my guess would be the seemingly endless need to put every core and cover out in a Pearl then Solid then Hybrid and act like they've reinvented the wheel.

I'm not familiar enough with 900 Global's line to say whether they do it too or not but as a storm/roto guy it's getting old.

900 Global has not done the Solid/Hybrid/Pearl with the same cover/core at all this year.

Dream Big - 79 Alert Solid
Dream On - 74 Response Hybrid

Respect Pearl - 74 Response Pearl (2.52/0.047)
Respect - 79 Alert Hybrid (2.49/0.052)

Sorry you feel like you aren't matching up with our stuff lately Doom :(

Tj, the current lineup has plenty of hits (Night Hawk, Boost Pearl, Respect, Black Ops, and more), and I've been on this ride a long time, and can't say I'm matching up with the Utah poured balls. Not saying they're bad, just having an issue matching up. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I'm not liking what I'm seeing. I used to be able to look in my bag and ball up and down with the utmost confidence. Not so much anymore.

I still want a Black Ops and Booyah, but not too excited when balls get replaced that covered a certain motion, and the old one was only 6 months old. This isn't Global exclusive by any means (almost everyone does it, and that's another thread), but by the time I feel a ball is worthy of getting a backup NIB, its hard to find them because they've been closed out. By the time I can sell a ball to someone, its out of the line. I'm not a pro shop operator anymore, but it stings when someone comes up to me and says "Hey, that ball rolls awesome! Where can I get one?" And I'm like "eBay". It's frustrating. I live in the same small town as a Motiv staffer, and I'm always out reppin the stuff. I'm shooting the lights out with a Network, or Night Hawk SE, or King Cobra, but to say " oh, you like my King Cobra? You can get the new reaction shape in the new Chemical X" is disheartening. You know that most of the time, if they liked the ball motion of ball a, and you say ball b is close to it, they're not going to go get ball b.

As far as the Pearl/hybrid/solid example, I know Global has some that for years (Breaks, Bountys, Banks), but I'm tired of the constant need to keep pushing out new equipment just to push it out. Once again, most companies do it, but I haven't been throwing most companies since the beginning.

Knowing me, I'll stay, just because I believe in the product. Just a few misses that have really disappointed me.

When you limit yourself to one brand you are only hurting  yourself! Unless you are a staffer. (Lol). My bag is full of different balls from different companies. Global Moxie and Respect, Roto Grip Uproar and Wrecker, DV8 Rude Dude, Thug Unruly, Vandal, Brunswick Melee Jab, LT-48, Rhino Gold. AMF Incinerate and Incinerate pearl. And those are just the ones that I really throw right now. Bottom line is if something else sparks curiosity then give it a try. It will only help.
