Neomark Graphic Starting to Seperate
« on: September 07, 2014, 02:48:02 PM »
Part of the Neomark Graphic on my Primal Rage is starting to separate from the regular cover stock. It's not huge, but there is the beginning of some separation. It's like a fine crack that isn't, if that makes sense.

At this point, it's not a performance issue, but it's not giving me warm and fuzzes. I quickly showed it to my proshop guy, and he said he'd be willing to send in a picture, but he didn't think they'd replace it at this point.

Anyone else experiencing this kind of issue??

This is the first one I have had any issues with. When it first started to separate, I just let it go and kept an eye on it. But this weekend, the crack started to spread past the separation as you can see in the picture. It's only a matter of time before the crack goes around the entire ball in my opinion.

Not a knock on Motiv, I will still continue to buy their stuff.

When my Nexxus cracked, it did something similar.  The crack went pretty much straight around the ball, but at one point, it exactly followed the engraving on the ball.  It made no sense since the engravings are very shallow, but it did it anyway.

Update on my Venom Shock;

Motiv has offered to replace the ball. I sent the same picture I posted here and exchanged a couple of emails with Chelsea from Motiv.

Another example of excellent customer service from what I consider the best company in the business.

I just got word that I too will be receiving a replacement from Motiv. I told them if they didn't replace my ball, Milo would never buy anything from them again. The power of persuasion.  ;D

All kidding aside, I echo Milo's sentiments about Motiv customer service. Very impressive.

By the way, if you haven't tried the Octane, all I can say is DAMN, that bad boy has some back end! I bought one this week(along with the Tribal Fire) and it just explodes left when it hits friction.

I agree great customer service and ball replacement.  My SX-1 was replaced thru my drillers distributor.

The one factor that is never discussed that if the ball did not crack then the cost of re-drilling another new ball to replace the cracked one.  So, one does incur added costs thru no fault of the consumer.  I know of very few pro shops that re-drill for free.  The ball is replaced free but not drilling costs and for myself with an IT that is usually in the $55 - $60 range.  Though I think it's great the ball is replaced one has to compare apples to apples.  These cracking issues are all Neomark logo related.  Just the way I see it

That idea crossed my mind as well, but then I will essentially be getting a new ball for the cost of drilling. My Venom Shock has a ton of games on it already, so I'm actually kinda happy about it. Then again, my driller only charges me $40 to drill(including finger inserts and the Vise IT), so I'm not out as much as you.

Agreed.  It's just a factor that many don't consider in that they are happy to have the ball replaced and deservedly so.  All of the Motiv balls that I have seen crack (4) are Neomark logo issues.  Not the fault of the driller or consumer.

Scott, it is a factor and I agree with your assessment. No matter how you slice it or dice it, I'll be out $50 for the drill of a ball that shouldn't have had an issue. My proshop guy stands behind everything he sells and wouldn't explicitly expect payment, but I'll still pay him for his time, which I value.

In the overall scheme of things, it's part of the risk we accept with a ball purchase.

Milo, I am looking at the Octane too. Where is your Pin & CG located?

I'm thinking on mine of Pin under RF and CG out a bit.

Pin above the bridge about 1/2 inch and cg is below ring finger. Ball has a three inch pin.

My PAP is 5 over zero up/down
