im headed up this weekend, ill give you a report when i get back TJ!

From what i heard, the team house is wood, but they arent hooking a whole lot...im bowling two teams one first shift and one second so i can report on both...

Singles and Doubles i have heard is playable, but i have also heard they can get UGLY on a second shift...and summit lanes gives me a headache due to its high ceilings and the echoing from the balls hitting the lane...i bowled there a few times in college and the shot they gave us was always playable...

Remember, it's the PSBA that puts out the shot, not the house.  That said, please let us know what you see.  I'm heading out the first weekend of May.

BTW, I've had won our county tournament two years in a row on wood.  Always prefer that as opposed to synthetic.  Makes one think a bit more.

Also, let me know if you get into any good restaurants or bars.  Being from western PA, I don't know what's out there.  Would hate to think that I have to go to NJ to enjoy a good meal.

Yes true, but normal practice is this...

PSBA guys come in, look at what they have in their machine and tweak it to their liking...usually a modified, flatter, house shot with some OB is what i have seen the past few years...spoke with a few center managers that have had it in the past and thats USUALLY what happens...if anyone else knows differently please share!

then again i missed the scorefest at Chackos cause i was still in JR's

I will report ASAP when im done!

Well here goes nothing.

Singles and Doubles

I have bowled in this house before as i stated above...we walk in and get settled and watch some of the squad we are following, they are bowling on second shift oil so we are taking it for what its worth...i have never seen so many guys whiffing the head pin!  I mean it looked like the balls were skidding 60 ft and guys were just firing it at the head pin...

So they start oiling for our squad and all of a sudden i look down the lane and the mechanic is walking all over the lanes checking the shot, they seemed concerned as to what the machine was laying down...i saw them oil a few lanes more than once in fact...

So we get started, im using my widow playing 12 to 8 and back...there was a TON in the middle, if i got any further in than 12 the ball would not finish at all, but i had some miss room out to start because they were ripping outside of 5....

Well that shot lasted about 5 frames till the oil started to push, then the fun began....long story short they got ugly quick...switched to my radar alert at the end of single to get a early rolling particle to cut through they carry down

so we switch to doubles and this pair is even worse...not only has the oil pushed down but the heads are starting to go....still PLENTY of oil in the middle so i couldnt jump in...i had to get outside of 8 with my ALERT and i had a sweet little shot for 5 frames, UNTIL our pair brokedown for a good 15 min...after sitting and stiffening up i couldnt get back to where i was, just a rough/frustrating day in general shooting two mid 500's

We rushed out of there to get to the team house (a good 25 min drive) and we got to watch a little of the squad ahead of us...they were hooking a good bit but it looked like there was a bit of OB...this is the wood house btw

We are on 13-14 and we are bowling on second shift oil, which worked out in our favor...i used my widow all night and shot 640ish (felt like i should have shot 740)  The KEY to this house is trying to stay ahead of transition, because when they go they go...i started the night standing on 34 targeting 16 out to 10...i ended the night at 45 to 22 out to about 13...i would throw 4 in a row and then a big split, because they just went that quick...STAY ALERT TO WHAT YOUR TEAMMATES EQUIPMENT IS DOING!!! If they come high and leave a 4 pin MOVE!! if they go through the nose MOVE MORE!!

We ended up with 2905 which put us in 10th in scratch for the time being...i couldnt understand what the problem was as far as scores being so low till i hit the fresh the next day...

THE FRESH IS UGLY IF YOU HIT THE WRONG PAIR!!!  Alot of Hang out on the fresh, the heads went quick, and they change constantly...

I ended up with 1750 something all events...not bad, but not great...its all about what pairs you hit this year...i look forward to hearing what other people have to say about the shot!

Thanks for the heads up.  We are heading there mothers day weekend.  Have had a bunch of guys from our area arleady go.. but really no useful info from them.  One (who pitches the ball everywhere) claimed that he couldn't get his ball to move a board at the team house until into the second game.. and that he couldn't get far enough left at the S&D house.  Everyone else I spoke with didn't give any reasoning or description, just said they bowled poorly.

i could see this POSSIBLY happening if someone was playing the wrong part of the lane...

We were there the first weekend of the tourney, and I sent the Tournament Director an e-mail to express my disgust with the conditions.  I definitely don't expect THS, but I also don't expect a house with broken heads either.  Sky Lanes (team house) with wood lanes should be closed down.  If you don't place your ball down on the lane, it bounces off the lane, one time maybe 3 boards left, another time maybe 3 boards right.  And on our pair (19 & 20) there seemed to be a "groove" in the middle of the lane, so when shooting the 10 pin for me (lefty), had to avoid the groove or would kick the ball into the gutter on the right.  Especially on 19.  They have no customer service and actually have a sign that states "Bowl at your own risk".  This means that if their machine gouges your ball...they are not going to fix it or help having it fixed period.
Summit Lanes was a nicer establishment, but it is SOOO LOUD...my recommendation is the bring ear plugs or you will easily leave with a headache.  The lighting is pretty poor and the glare off the oil made it near impossible to see your mark.  I talked with a gentleman that bowls there regularly, and they put the PSBC pattern down on Friday night for regulars to test it, he averaged 210, and he shot a 525 set on the oil pattern.  I thought it was tough but fair, just loud and hard to see.  Concentration with a headache is difficult for me anyway.
As far as eateries, I highly recommend the Pocono Brewing Company, very good food, and a comedy club on Saturday nights, if you like that sort of thing, we didn't go to the comedy club, but were able to hang out in the bar and watch mulitple tv's, play shuffleboard/air hocky and had a great time.

It's located on rt 611 going toward back to Jersey in the town Swiftwater. From Summit lanes it's about 8to 10 miles away.

And the majority of the young ladies working at PBC are very "easy on the eyes..."

I think pictures are necessary to show how these two centers suck.  Look for them next Monday.  I will also show before after pics of the balls I use.  I swear, I better not have balls damaged.  Wish me luck!
