I feel inclined to share this...

This weekend I went to visit some old college friends in New York. I dropped out, but they are still attending school at Keuka College. Whenever I see them we have to go bowling, it's just implied.

We pull up to the alley and I immediately notice the name of the place has changed. It used to be dumb name, but now it's "Doug Kent's Lakeside..." something. I was telling everyone that he was a pro and they weren't that receptive.

We got in and who is standing behind the front desk??? Dougie Fresh himself. I was freaking out inside (I didn't want to scare anyone, so I kept it internal). I had never come this close to a pro in my life. My friend was being an Uncle Tom trying to introduce me to him, but I quickly let him know I was a big kid and I could handle everything myself.

We talked for a few moments while he was handing out shoes to my friends. (This guy is a PRO and his is asking people their shoe sizes? Very humbling). He told me how he came in 17th losing to Chris Johnson last week. Just had a bad look. I asked him about the Toxic (even though I throw Storm) and he rolled his eyes and took a deep breath. I guess he likes it... I also had to ask him about PA and PDW. I love watching both those players and know that there are opinions about them on this board. I asked what they were like off camera and if they were nice guys. He said they were great (he rooms with PA) and very intense.

My friends didn't really get the idea that he was a pro until he was shown on the Skills Challenge. Doug was sitting in the bar section of the alley watching himself on TV. They finally understood my excitement.

It was very cool to see him and I wish I had more time to talk to him. He seemed like a great guy and I can't imagine it was an act. Good luck to him in the future.

He has just about the best form of any PBA player on tour.  Talk about balance at the line.  I'm surprised he hasn't won more tourney's with that game!
