USBC dropped the ball
« on: August 22, 2007, 05:03:31 AM »
In the latest US Bowler they were pushing the Kelly Kulick vs Diandra aspect of the tournament for September. Kelly made it, Diandra didn't.

While it is very clear that Diandra is an awesome bowler, and deserves every bit of recognition she gets......they failed to mention a true hall of famer like Wendy.

maybe because Wendy is fat and ugly

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely, in a pretty and well preserved body; but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming. "Wow, What a @*#% ride!!!"

Welcome to Marketing 101. Yes, it's sad and sexist, but it's tough to market "fat chicks" no matter how talented and deserving they are. I didn't intend to sound flippant.

The truth does hurt, but he's right.  Probably the first thing you learn in any marketing class is that no matter how right or wrong it is, sex sells (especially when you're dealing with women, but even with men).  The better looking the person, the more people in general will take interest.  If I am looking at an ad, I would rather look at Diandra than Wendy.  I've met Wendy and spoken to her before; she's a great woman and a great bowler.  However, she's just not as attractive and therefore marketable as Diandra.

There is Ms. McPherson <softig> and then there is Ms. Feldman <well 'nuff said>.

Sad but true.......LPGA learned this while back.  Hotties sell.

Isn't Shrek the orphaned love child of Michelle Feldman and Wes Malott?

Sorry...had her confused with Feldman, but still she's not as "marketable" as Diandra.

the doubles tournament the pba recently ran in st. louis did not feature the top 16 players as it should have. it picked players based on ability yes, but it also picked players they thought the fans would like to see.
