Thunder Struck pearl
« on: October 23, 2006, 01:59:42 PM »
Between the ladies on TV and the Japan Cup, I've seen a lot of this ball.  I only see one review on here (Thanks Jeff) and not much in the forum.  Is this ball a gem that everyone has missed so far?  If the pros are using it on TV instead of high-end stuff, it must be pretty good.  Any thoughts?

It and my Spit Fire are the first two outof my bags on any medium light-high medium lanes... Those two are my tag team on just about any condition with relatively clean backends... the thunderstruck can definitely handle more oil and has a more controlled reaction. it WILL snap for me on super clean backends, and that can cause problems with some high hits... if the backends are flying, the thunderstruck goes in and the spit fire comes out. I really need to write a review on the Thunderstruck, since it and the Spit Fire helped me shoot +246 for 7 games during some pot bowling...

I wish more people would write reviews...  I know there are some people on here that really complain about people's reviews but you can't let that stop you from doing it.  A smart person should be able to sort out all of the reviews and decide which ones may apply to them and which ones to kind of pass on.

Like even if it is just saying how you drilled it and what you have noticed.  It's something.  Not everyone is a company rep or can write a book.

I have been hold off on writing a review on my latest ball because I am trying to get as much data as I can.  It is possible that people are still doing this with the Thunderstruck Pearl.

You can read my review on my Spit Fire if you'd like, Fluff E Bunnie. I will have a review on the Thunderstruck very soon, I just want a more concise understanding of the ball. It gets a bit soft with a lot of carry down... but I am finding it to be extremely efective on severe inside shots, 4th arrow to 13, straight up the back...

I'm really liking mine right now. Clean enough through the front to get use on those lighter mediums but also has enough backend to turn the corner on those heavier mediums. Something I haven't been able to get a ball to do in past 2 years.

Wow, you must be a lefty... lol.
I was actually browsing through looking for some information on the ball as well...  I like the looks of the TSP, but to me the core looks a little entry-level-ish.  But maybe that isn't a bad thing for lighter oil conditions?  We will be awaiting you review...

Thanks,

All I can say is it does NOT compare to the great original Rolling Thunder Pearl that I still have.  I like the original much better, longer, smoother and IMO better carry.  Thats just me.  I really need to redrill that lil guy for a better fit or sell it and drill the other one I may or may not have .  IF anybody wants the original hit me a PM.. As to not TJ I think the new piece is decent, yet I would not choose it as the best option on the market in all reality.  I think spit fire might be a better all arounder and I feel that the Vibe series from Hammer offer a better roll and hit.

The TSP is not weak by any means, Comparable to my Radical Inferno in terms of strength. My Radical is at 1000Grit and it's a good 3 boards stronger then box.

I only saw one red ball on TV show...  was Robert Smith using it!

If so...maybe I'll wait a bit....but if it was the ball Clara Gueraro was using...I'm getting it!

I think Shafer threw it too.  And yes that's what Clara was throwing when she had the nuts on that "sport" pattern.

Yes it is the same ball that Smith, Clara, and Shafer even threw a bit.  Clara was so lucking out on some light hits in the mall.

The TSP is an amazingly strong ball, as long as it doesn't hit too much carrydown. If the ball flips and hits a decent amount of downlane oil, it comes in soft and skidding somewhat. It didn't like playing tight inside, which irked me since I was hoping it would do better. Too heavy of a roll.

I might have to change up my review on the Spitfire... Last night I was leaving copious amounts of stone 7s with the TSP, playing 18 to 8, 17 to 6... basically anything with a lot of entry angle. i tried firming up the speed and firing up 8 and up 10, but couldn't get the 4 pins and 4-10s to go away. I pulled the Spitfire out, and shot 22 at the arrows to 12-13 and proceeded to carry the world. The recovery was shocking, to say the least. My Agent was WAY too strong for the lack of oil, and the Spit Fire was perfect. I had to make sure that I stayed square and firm with the speed, and it was just killing the rack. I am VERY pleased with the reaction.

I got my Thunderstruck Pearl about 2 months ago and have had some great success with it. It was actually a little weaker than I thought it would be, but it's a great ball over all. With the pin below my fingers I thought the ball would have more roll to it, but this ball gets through the heads nice and has a very good backend reaction. The only thing it struggles in for me is carry down. I'm getting a spit fire this weekend and hoping it will be a good complement for when I need more pop in the backend.  I'll post a review about each soon enough!
