« on: May 06, 2007, 03:38:09 AM »
Hi Everyone,

The VIP's are Mr. C-G Proshop and Mr. FBM357.  FBM357 is making breakfast right now and Mr Hurd is waiting to take a shower..lol  We'll be back on Tues/Weds and let you guys now how we did.  Wish us luck!

Reporting live from 'Casa de Rick' ...

What up peeps?  Here with Rick and Carl (wives and my daughter).  Having a really good time (weather has been very good so far!).  Ready to hit the road for Reno (breakfast was good.  Really good for those who just ate and didn't cook )

Word of advice to everyone who plans to go, but moreso for those 'really trusting of their drillers', MAKE SURE YOUR DRILLER DRILLS A LEGAL BALL!!!!  LOL.  NO JOKE!!!  Decided to weigh my stuff before I allow the drill-mongers at Reno get their hands on it and learned most of my stuff was ....ummm.... not quite right to say the least!

Anyways,  catch ya folks later as I'm making a family vacation out of this!

I just counted  they took 9 teams. Man that is a lot of paper work to get together.

it was only 8 teams and yes, the organizational effort was huge.  i was the unfortunate soul who had to deal with it all.  at the end of the day however, it is always worth all of the hassle.  this is the best tournament we all participate in and it was great being able to meet all of the bowlers outside of our normal northern california environment.  some of us bowled well and others perhaps did not meet their expectations, but all we can do is try our best and have a good time doing it.  just wanted to say thanks to all who were able to make it and i will be getting ready for 2008 shortly.  i also wanted to thank rick especially for all of his work.  considering his professional schedule and recent illnesses, it was pretty amazing what he was able to accomplish.

My miscount on the teams. Did they pay you a fee or give you a NIB Phoenix for your trouble?

a nib phoenix would have been nice, but all i got were lots of good memories.  the usbc also gave me a nice group coordinator appreciation certificate and a gift certificate for the usbc merchandise store in the check in area. they called my name in the squad room and i noticed i got lots of symphathetic looks.

I just want to give public thanks to Rick and Jim for organizing our little group, especially Jim for taking on the thankless job of dealing with all the paperwork.  I wouldn't even think about bowling Nationals if you guys weren't involved.  I look forward to bowling in New Mexico next year, especially if you can put together a Classified team....

I also greatly enjoyed crossing with FBM357, even though Vernon almost broke my hand exchanging high fives....  I just regret that I didn't get more of a chance to chat with Vernon and the guys from other parts of the country.

Really don't know where to begin!  Have to give 'props' to Jim for organizing a great event!  He also made sure everyone was enjoying themselves (during bowling) as well!  Must say, though I met him for the first time, the award he received was well deserved!  Thanks Jim!!!

Next, I'd like to thank the many great guys I've met.  Up until this tournament, I only knew them via voice.  Majority are crazy as all hell but truly good people nonetheless.  Had a great time crossing with Bob a.k.a. minimum bob.  Had great convo as well.

Most of all, I have to give MAJOR PROPS AND RESPECT to the Leong and Hurd Family!  Rick extended himself like a brother.  Truly an amazing guy!!!  Carl was equally giving as well.  I know there was the 'Rat Pack' with Sammy, Dean and Tony, but I must admit, the 3 of us have quite a unique bond with similar bonding characteristics.  We've talked on the phone too many times to count and have finally met.  The same in person as on the phone (as I'm sure they will admit the same about me ) ... <sniff ... sniff>

Because of this GREAT EXPERIENCE, my family and I plan to bowl Nats next year!  This was my first Nationals and I, like those before me, have more to say (including my new screen name .. ).  I'll continue the post once I return to NY.

Later,

V
