Took the plunge ordered a 3 ball Ogre arsenal:
Ogre Solid-Pumpkin  Long/med-heavy  
Ogre Pearl-Blurple  med
Ogre SS-Blue/Silver med/when more backend is needed
Future looking at a Slate Blue Gargoyle or B/G Centaur-dry/short med  

Any other suggestions?
drilling sugestions/cover preps, pap-4.5 over 1/4 down,11" track dia,17deg axis tilt,30-45 deg axis rot,300-350rpm,16mph

Ogre series is a good place to start but I see nothing wrong with any of the RG balls you have either.

I'd start with one of the Ogre series <Solid or Pearl> and see how you like it before going hog wild.

I really like the idea of the low diff/strong cover on this line of equipment and think I would match up perfectly to them. And to carry 3 balls + spare would be a treat. I sent out an E-mail to Visionary today and am looking forward to the response later in the week.

Please Visionaries throw in your 2 cents any all opinions are valued and appreciated.

The Ogre line is definitely going to cover most normal conditions.  The solid at OOB is very strong, and makes good heavy oil ball.  I took mine to 1000, then to 4000 and it is still stronger than my Ogre pearl.  The pearl is a solid medium oil ball, and the SS for me so far is several feet longer than the pearl.

can anyone chime in with some layout suggestions/cover preps

scotts33, I will work with my driller but he does not carry Visionary as I would have purchased from a pro shop in the area that carried the line. I am looking for suggestions from people who have thrown the product or have drilled them and know the covers and cores abiltiies. I'd rather not play a guessing game or be unknowledgeable walking in to the shop. Besides I have not seen a Visionary ball on the lanes in my area for 5 years. And would like to go into the whole Visionary experience as educated as possible.

yes, but nothing specific just to use drillings that have worked on other mfr's balls. The request was forwarded from Jason to Jim. The response was quick just not the specific info that I was hoping to receive. So I was somewhat disappointed I just figured that I would try to get some further info here. I know that my driller is very good he just has not drilled any of these balls so am contemplating going to my old driller who has drilled Visionary in the past. But a I stated I would like to have some ideas and knowledge before going in.

I know you are looking for some info. so here is what I would do.  Of course this totally depends on your technique and typical patterns you might bowl on.  

I am pretty near your stats.  I am also a tweener same speed 4 7/8 over 0, revs 300-325.  You are a bit more inverted I am not.  

FMG--I'd go with a stronger layout as this will be your oil ball <3 3/8" to 4" pin to PAP> pin down deg layout depends on strong you want the ball to finish.  I use degree layouts on everything.  FMG early rolly type ball.  Good for heavier patterns. 600-1000 abralon.

Solid Ogre--Pin next to ring or pin over <pin 4" to 4 1/2" pin to PAP> maybe 60 deg. as this should make it a good benchmark ball for you.  Medium to heavier medium. 1000 abralon.  I use mine at 1000 abralon works well on fresh THS's with no over reaction because of surface.

Pearl Ogre--Pin over ring <4 1/2" pin to PAP> deg. layout depends on how you want the ball to finish.  Pearl Ogre will fight a slight amount of carrydown.  Floats easily thru heads.  Light medium to medium. Box surface or slight scuff with polish over.  charlest and TrimMan have a post on what they did to theirs.  See their posts.

SS Ogre--I get mine drilled tonite so I don't have as much knowledge as others.  I'll be laying mine out probably 5" to 5 1/2" pin over with CG in palm probably 90 deg. somewhat like twister laid his out.  twister is a higher rev player than I so take that into account.  twisters stats. are same as mine except rev rate.  Leaving mine box.  Should be good ball for inside angles with enough pop to carry well.

Green/Blue--Pin over could put pin over bridge <5 to 5 1/2" pin to PAP> CG kicked out MB 1" right of theumb.  Since this ball is so under reactive I tend to use mine on wet/dry house blocks.  I tend not to use mine on inside angles others may but I do not find it carries as well as your Pearl will or an SS or Greenie.  Not as much backend.  On flying backends it may. Crankers also might get better carry than I do.  I get lots of pinging 10's when I move inside.  1000-1200 abralon for a down and in wet/dry THS.  

FWIW.....what I'd do is go with layouts that have been working for you in the past.  What's great about Visionary equipment is there are no tricky drilling you'll need.  They all hit well and surface adjust very well.  Covers will hold up against any out their.  I'd compare LM/L covers and Visionary's as the two longest lasting covers out there today.
