Hammer or Elite?
« on: February 27, 2006, 05:55:39 AM »
I was thinking about buying a new ball i was already reading reviews and everything but i would like a better opinion. I was thinking of either buying a Hammer Saw Blade or Elite R47. I am right handed, bowl on synthetic lanes and throw the ball between the 1st and 2nd arrow, and not a cranker. Which ball would work out better i need a new ball so bad at the place where i bowl they now add a lot of extra oil. They used to only have light to medium so my Track Solution and Hammer Switch had a hard backend but now they go straight. I need a ball that hooks in heavy oil.

Here are the best balls for you

Road Hawg... by hammer
Action... by Columbia
Scorching inferno... by Brunswick

Elite is weak.. don't go there.

--------------------
Arsenal:

EPX-T1 - Heavy oil
Action - Heavy to Medium oil
Action Packed - Medium oil (Coming soon)
Original Inferno - Medium oil
Smoking Inferno - Medium to Dry
Blue Dot - Spare ball

i don't like the hook on the scorching inferno much or the action but my brother has the road hawg and he bowls at the same place as me but the ball doesn't hook

The Doom wouold also work if you took a cover adjustment, ask chitown, he's changed the cover on a couple and says he goes forever, with what he has done.

Hawg Wild would be a good one as well as an Ebonite XXcel , V2 Power or V2 Sanded, JMO

As much as I LOVE the Doom, it's not the ball you want if your looking for primarily a heavy oil ball.  Surface adjusments only go so far and IF you're on a flood, it's not the right ball.  If you're looking for Hammer I would go with the Hawg Wild.  It reads sooner and will be a better choice.  Stay away from Elite.  They are expensive reruns of older balls.

Is the R47 used or new?  What are the specs?  Make sure you know that the specs are good before you buy.

Do you know the specs on the R47.  It makes a big difference if you are getting a 2nd or blemish ball.

Save your money and get a nemesis if your heart is stuck on the elite r47, at best its PK18 and the core numbers are similiar and the nemesis is a very good ball.  The R47 is not an oiler by any means.  Elites are garbage old recycled core and covers from brunswick found much cheaper in their brunswick counterparts.  If your brothers road hawg isn't hooking then the surface should be taken down it is 4000 out of box, and is still stronger than a r47 or some of the other balls listed.

ALso when I say garbage i dont mean they are bad but they are garbage because they are a rip off just a little clarification.

No, the Top Weight and Pin Distance.  Should say on the box.  Every ball is different.  I would ask and check on these.
