Answer me this..... ball reaction....
« on: April 28, 2006, 06:24:21 AM »

I am curious in answers to the following questions.

Assuming the same bowler is doing the throwing of the ball....

How much of a percentage of the reaction of a bowling ball comes from a certain aspect of the ball design?

 1. The cover stock (or surface) is responsible for __________ % of the reaction.
 2. The weight of the ball is responsible for ________% of the reaction.
 3. The core design is responsible for ________% of the reaction.
 4. The drill pattern is responsible for _______% of the reaction.

I am curious as to what kind of numbers people would ascribe to each of the
blanks above.

% THAT FACTORS AFFECT REACTION ON THE BOWLING BALL (GENERALIZATION):  back to top
Generally accepted as follows:
1- Coverstock and surface preparation 65-70%
2- Core 15-20%
3- Pin placement and Dynamic weights 10-15%
4- Mass Bias 0-10%
5- Balance hole 0-5%
6- Static Weights 0-2%

this might help

all i know is that the Coverstock is very influental on reaction. Look at the Vapor and the Classic Zones. The numbers are almost identical on the cores, yet the coverstocks are different and the reactions are opposite end of the spectrums. Classic Zone flips hard while the Vapor is a smooth rolling ball.
