Are you famous for anything?
« on: May 12, 2006, 05:12:27 AM »
Bowling related, that is.

Like having the front 11 strikes and then throwing a gutter ball in the fill shot, for a whopping 290.  Or back to back lillies.  You ever do something that no one seems to forget?

I'm boring so I don't have anything.

well it wasnt me, but a guy that was on my bowling team was trying to loft the ball as far as he could...well he threw it straight up threw the ceiling and the ball landed right back by him. yea, everyone had to quickly change the tiles before the manager was there

My brother and I are both pretty famous for our numerous 8-10 splits.  I rarely leave them anymore.

My brother is actually famouse for two things:
-The ball got stuck on his thumb once, the ball went in the roof through a tile, got lost in there (nobody could see it) and came down about four tiles further, to land on the lane.
-Picked up a 4 pin so hard, that he broke the pin in two.

As for me:
-My ball speed (if the lane is very dry, my first ball average speed is around the 25mph range).
-The back curtain of a lane was not properly on once so the pins would bounce back and land on the gutters about two or three feet to the front of the pin setters.  That day I picked up a 10 pin so hard that the pin bounced on the back of the lane, and came rolling through the middle all the way to my feet on the approach.  I have the pin here, at home.

That's about all I can remember riht now.

2 things. At my home center we had a tourny at the end of the year and the winner got to throw out the opening ball of the next season. Of course i was only 11 but i won the tournement and ditched the first ball of the next season. Probably the msot well known thing my friend is kown for is he had front 11. He left the 4-6-7-9-10, a greek church, however he's a lefty. So not only did he leave a right handed greek church he did it having front 11

Kind of embarassing, but I was 7 or 8 at the time of my longest day of bowling.  My mother had to score my "perfect" 0, three game series.  I rememebr knocking some pins down, but fouling when i did it.  Worst part was, they wouldn't give me a triplicate patch for it.

Did a Rubiks cube in 28 seconds, didnt get onto Blue Peter as the third fastest bloke was related to someone on the beeb, he was the bloke on the telley.

That was 25 years ago, was a record untill someone did it in 26 seconds.

I bought one a couple of months ago and can still do it after 20 year layoff.

In my old house in CA, we played cards as many of you do. Our "dealer" put together about 6 decks in one shoe, for each game. So need to discard any cards, best 5 cards win, get one card for a strike or a spare. I normally got 11-12 cards each game and was the king of the 5 pairs. No straights, flushes, just 5 pair. I was going for 6 pairs when my job moved me away.....one of these days, lol.
