Are you famous for anything?
« on: May 12, 2006, 05:12:27 AM »
Bowling related, that is.

Like having the front 11 strikes and then throwing a gutter ball in the fill shot, for a whopping 290.  Or back to back lillies.  You ever do something that no one seems to forget?

I'm boring so I don't have anything.

so I guess this means that you won't be posting your band camp stories

Personally, I am quite content to be one of those obscure footnotes in bowling history that most tend not to remember...

I had 8 of the front 9, and was swinging the ball a lot for me.  I had a small OB on the right.  First ball in the 10th in the gutter.  Thought to myself, self, don't change a thing.  Don't pull the ball on your second shot or you will ruin a good game.  So I shot a 219 with 2 gutter balls in the 10th.  There are certain people who never let me forget about it, although I don't think it's that big a deal.

A friend of mine tends to leave the 2-8-10 so much that some of us name it after him.

Hey foodwise I wiped out the Shula's Challenge, eating a 48oz steak in 60 minutes.  I did it in 35.  Even went back and ate the house salad and breadsticks

I threw a 74 in a sport league.  50 pins under average.  I think it was the lowest in the league.

Also got up to bowl (open practice the night before for a tournament), looked up and there was a, umm, "gifted" young lady picking up her ball at the same time I did.  Got a real eyeful.  Threw it right in the gutter.

I had the high average on a 5 man team that held the Guinness book of world records for pins knocked down in 24 hours. I averaged 204 for 107 games in 24 straight hours.  Patrick Hunter

Several things..bowling and golf...some well known others I've sort of hidden.

One in my profile.

Golf most of the good stuff I don't tell...sounds unbelievable.

Little stuff in bowling.  Never picked up the 4 7 10 until a few years ago picked it up in two consecutive frames in an important tournament to me at an important time!  And THEN never picked it up again even in practice...till last night!

Some small stuff.

Have NEVER picked up the 5 6 split in bowling.

Have never thrown a game without a strike...practice or real.
Real close.

Have had the 7 10 split picked up at least four times on my pair in tournaments and yet have never seen it picked up!  Always look away!

Oh yeah...my first year of bowling left handed...never had shot an all spare strike game.  Never had shot a 200...never had shot a 500 and then walked in one night and went 226(pg), 270, XX just missed a 700! With my new yellow dot!  League play.

I took 20 years off after that...league average that year.

175....148 first half... 19X second half!?

Had to double in the tenth frame of the third game with the front 11 for 600.  Out of all of my accomplishments, this is the one I'm known for.  Damned college team....lol
