Bowling and Smoking
« on: March 13, 2008, 03:23:21 AM »
http://www.springfieldnewssun.com/n/content/oh/index/news/local/news_poll.html

Please refer to the above link if you are a smoker who feels you have lost all rights to choose.

Please click this link or cut and paste it into your browser, you will see a news poll that states,” DO you agree with the smoking ban”. If you are a smoker who wants to restore some freedom of choice please select, “ no “ then submit it. You do not have to leave your name or comments.

There is a group of about 30 people who sit in front of a sponsored computer and vote every hour, they are against smoking so they vote yes, this is how the ban was put in place, by using deceptive tactics .

Since they are not playing by the rules we should respond using the same method.

You can vote as many times as possible, just once every hour, and for as many days as you want to.

Thanks for your help in restoring some form of freedom.

Also please tell as many people that smoke to vote. Thanks, a ton.

This certainly isn't intended to insult any one who doesn't smoke, but the leagues in this area are dropping very quickly, and the pro shops are loosing money because of it. I am disabled and do not smoke, but it never upset me bowling on leauge night where just about every one smoked.

I love this sport and I can't stand to see it slipping away because of a smoking ban. Compromise would be great. Open bowing or on weekends while kids and or families are bowling, no smoking. League nights when all the working class citizens are doing what they love, then let em smoke. My pro shop has gone under, how many others will suffer this fate?

Your help would not only be appreciated, it will help to perserve what we all come here for, to bowl.

Thanks, Mike aka Plane Facts

Looks like yes is winning. We don't have a smoke free bowling alley here and I wish they would.

IMO, the smoking ban is nothing more than a "nuisance" ordinance.  It's in place to force people to show a bit of common respect for others who are in their vacinity while out in public.

Allowing smoking at an alley that actually had the ability to remove most of the smoke might not be that bad.  However, most are not equipped as such and walking into a place with smoke just hanging in it is so 1980.  Our whole state went smokeless and I believe it did hurt our league participation, but I don't care.  It is so nice to leave the alley and not smell and feel like an ashtray.  Sorry smokers you are losing your right to choose to smoke INDOORS, but I have exercised my right to breath fresh clean air indoors.

Is it really that bad to go out between games to smoke?

In Ontario, everything is smoke free. A lot of businesses are hurt over the province wide smoking ban including the bowling alley I work at.

I clicked no. I don't even smoke and i think its pathetic that you can't smoke inside a place like a bowling alley. Bowling alleys should adapt with better ventilation. Its not that hard to do.

Why? Its a bowling alley, not a blow smoke alley. They shouldn't be smoking in the first place, inside outside doesn't matter.

Our town went smoke free last year. We lost one guy over the smoking ban...for two weeks. When he realized he was the only one who quit, he realized he looked like an @55, so he came back.

The bowling alley is a much nicer place to be these days. It's nice to know that going bowling isn't going to kill me. Also, my clothes (which were clean upon arriving at the bowling center) no longer have to come off and go right into the laundry when I get home because they small like I rolled around in an ashtray. The bowling center also said the daily cleaning routine has become much easier.

It all comes down to the rights of the business owners and the consumer's right to choose.

If you don't like the smoke, get together with all the others that don't like the smoke, and complain to the business owner. Tell them that you will all take your business elsewhere. If the owner decides that they will then make it a smoke free place, then that is fine with me.It is their right as the owner to make that choice.
They are in business to make money, and will do whatever will bring in the most business.

If that means allowing smoking, and you don't like it,then you are free to chose not to give them your business, and give it to a non-smoking establishment.

I hate the smell of the alley on the nights of women's league. A bunch of overweight women wearing too much cheap perfume to cover up the smell of sweat.
So here's what I do.............I GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.
