Do you own a plastic ball?
« on: December 04, 2006, 07:08:20 AM »
And use it?

I'm not talking about a "performance" plastic ball... or a ball that you use when they get really dry.  But a Maxim or White Dot or Vis-a-ball for shooting spares.  And a ball with a label drill, no leverage weighted (if that's even possible with a pancake weightblock) layouts.

If so, what do you got?

Were Crown Jewels plastic?  That's what I use for spares, a gold one.

I have a columbia blue dot that rolls straight as an arrow. I was told the coverstock is very hard so the ball just glides across the lane. It hits kind of hard too

I had a Blue Dot, but now have an XXXL.  Pin under bridge, CG just a little right, so I guess you could consider it label.  It's for spares, but I do use it for strikes when it's super dry and even weak resin won't get through the heads.  I use it for all my spares, double wood included.

I also have a Blue Hot Flame.  Weak resin, 4 piece weight block, not much more than a pancake.  Pin under bridge, CG just a little right, not even close to needing a weight hole.  Slate Blue Gargoyle, pin over bridge, CG just a little left, no weight hole needed.  The simple stuff still has a place.

Col300 Blue Dot 89 hardness durometer label no weights side either way.  3/8 oz. finger just the way it came out.

Have used other dry lane stuff.  My fav. Vis. Amulet Glow.

I used a Target Zone for a while, it actually had a tendency to hook up on me a little bit which is why I have a White Dot being plugged and redrilled as we speak.

just picked up a blue-dot from bb.com for $40 shipped after discounts...  its amazing how much lower friction the cover feels than the viz-a-ball I used to have... this thing is going to go straight as an arrow!

I use a Maxim green sparkel. If it matters, its pin in, so pin and cg are on topp of eachother. Pin and cg in palm. Hooks enough when i need it, goes straight when im making it do it . I converted the 4-7-9 with it today ;P
