God I hate Fedex (Rant) UPDATED

I think when buying balls online, I'm gonna have to start asking what company will be used first. If its fedex, no thanks!

First of all, I use nothing but UPS when I ship because there is a UPS Store here in town. The nearest Fedex ground/Home delivery terminal is about 1 hour away. Sure fedex may save you a couple dollars per package, but they screw up all the time. Out of the last 10 times I have received packages via fedex, at least 4 of those times they either lose my package or put it on the wrong truck and it ends up at the wrong terminal or they say the barcode is unreadable and it sits for a day or 2 before they replace it. I'm just tired of all their fvckups!! UPS does not have this many problems.

Right now I'm waiting on a ball from Ike that was shipped on 6/28/06 and it was scheduled to be delivered today 7/5/06. Thats already a long transit time. Now this morning I tracked it and it ended up going to Raleigh NC instead of Greenville NC. Raleigh is less than 45 minutes from me but my packages usually come from Geenville. I called fedex to see why it was in Raleigh. It was put on the wrong truck. I asked if I could just come pick it up and they tell me no. They are gonna put it back on another truck and pass right by my city and take it another hour on the other side of me to Greenville and then greenville will deliver it 2 days later. New delivery date will be 7/7/06.

Like I said, this is about the 4th time I have had problems with fedex out of the last 10 times. I have grown to hate them with a passion!

Has anyone else ever had this many problems with them?

If I wanted it to take 2 weeks or longer I would just use USPS. Besides, Fedex Customer Service is horrible and they could give a rats azz about you.

And UPS customer service is any better !! LOL.. Come on seriosuly..

I have shipped over 100 packages (and probably received another 50 or so) the past 2 years with fed ex ground and had 4 minor mishaps, no lost packages and no damaged items. I have had several bad experiences with UPS ground (both shipping and receiving) and 1 with DHL. I am sorry, its just a fact of life that mistakes are gonna happen with ALL COURIERS!!

I could also care less if Fed ex gives a rats azz about me or not.. I have an account with them and thats it.. I don't own any fed ex stock or anything like that!! LOL..

UPS Service is definitely better. Way better. To this day, I have never had a problem with a single UPS delivery to my residence, but I can't say the same for Fed-EX. Two out of the last three packages delivered by Fed-EX that I was supposed to receive at my residence, were delivered to another house with the same numerical but different street address on a different street. Go figure.....

I have only used Fed-Ex one time, to ship 4 different bowling balls to 3 different people.  The first 3 balls made it to the right 2 people, but the last one was lost the day after it was shipped, and they have NO CLUE where it is or what could've happened to it.  Luckily, StormwickBowler758, the recipient, is cool with it and we have been working on trying to figure it out.  I went to the place I shipped it and fil;ed through them and he is doing somehting of the same.  Hopefully it all works out, and soon.

On a positive note, ALL other dealings I have ever done on here and BBE were sent through UPS WITHOUT ONE SINGLE PROBLEM.  That's the last time I try to save a buck or two through Fed-Ex.  This is just my opinion and experiences with both companies.

This thread speaks for itself.

The majority that posted here have had numerous problems with fedex. Some have had problems with UPS but far less. If UPS screws something up, they are more willing to look into it and figure out whats going on for you. Fedex tells you the smae thing you already know and nothing more. They don't seem to care if continue to use their service or not.

Unbeleivable.......I tracked the package this morning and now it is in Ashland , VA. They are taking my package through every city and state around me. They had it within 45 minutes of me and now taking it backwards. WTF

I could not agree with you more... having 1 package get mis-routed should not be a big deal and bashing fed ex isn't going to fix his problem or make people stop using fed ex, but I do understand his frustrations.. My point was this same issue could be happening right now if the package was sent using UPS ground.. Stuff like this is bound to happen when thousands of packages get sent everyday all over the world..

I do agree with you on fed ex ground being cheaper than UPS ground and faster to most areas..

This has been a Fed Ex bash post, but I am not running out and changing over to UPS because of this, I do know that.. LOL..

OK, they did screw up by putting it on the wrong truck to Raleigh...HOWEVER, the rest of your rant about the long delivery time is unfounded.  REMEMEBER, this was a HOLIDAY WEEK/WEEKEND...if it shipped on the 28th, it was only in transit through the 30th and then sat on a truck or in a warehouse somewhere until after the 4th of July holiday...not there fault for the long delivery, it was shipped at a bad time...would have happened using UPS, USPS, or any other shipping company.  Just a little something to think about...

Harry, I don't like to disagree with a friend and fellow Okie, but even though I agree that Fed-EX is cheaper, if you will go back and read my post you will see that to me, as far as I am concerned, they are not better. I am more than willing to pay UPS a few more bucks and have the excellent delivery to my residence as well as fast-on time shipments they have always given me vs the recent problems I have had with Fed-EX that I pointed out in my post a few posts above yours. A one time error by Fed-EX I can understand, but 2 out of the last three deliveries I find unacceptable.

This UPS & Fed-EX thing appears to be like chain stores and problems people have with them in different locations. For example, in one location, people love Home Depot and hate Lowes because of great help from workers, customer service  and so forth and in another location, people love Lowes and hate Home Depot for the same reasons. From my experience with the Home Depot & Lowes thing, I suspect it is the local management of those stores as two of these stores I go to, there is a huge difference in the manager and his style and attitude between the two stores. In one store the help is happy, cheerful, helpful, and etc. and in the other store, I can't wait to get out of that store and be on my way.

This same thing may be true with UPS & Fed-EX, I don't know.

My point about this issue from the very beginning was this:

A couple day delay in receiving a package is nothing to get upset and bash a company about.. Slowness in delivery could happen (and does) with ALL couriers but that doesn't mean they s*ck. With this just being a holiday weekend and them being off 1 day means they have 2 days of packages they need to get somewhere in 1 day. I personally totally understand that. Fed Ex employees deserve a day off just like all of us did. To post something like that after 1 package gets delayed is ridiculous IMO, but to each his own.. If you have proof (and not here say) that this has happened multiple times, thats a different story..

Fed Ex is not perfect and either is UPS or the US Mail.. The bottom line for me is this.. Did I receive my package safely? Thats the most important thing to me..

Obviously you have never called their customer service.  I could imagine that call would go something like this:

Jim, I agree and support you on this statement. You are 100% right in what you said here. However, due to the problems I have had with Fed-EX, one of which I pointed out in a post here, I will have to lean towards giving my business to UPS even though the cost is a few dollars more, but to bash any company whether it is Fed-EX or UPS for a day or two delay in a delivery because of a holiday week-end is wrong. I would have to support Fed-EX on this one issue, but can't support them on messing up for me recently as I pointed out in my post.

We all have our favorites and our reasons for our favorites, so everyone needs to let this thing die right now and here as all the arguing back and forth isn't going to change ONE SINGLE THING. This is my last post on this topic guys.

I didn't take any of your reply as arguing.. This is a forum and we are all just discussing our opinions and feelings, thats all..

Strapper, that was great and very much true but UPS is the same exact way.. I had issues with a lost package and ask UPSwhat to do next and it was a total nightmare.. The entire process took almost 2 months to get back $100 bucks..

I don't doubt that.  I have been fortunate enough to have good luck (so far anyways) with UPS.  I think sometimes the companies forget that we pay their salaries and they actually work for us...
