I need Skid/Flip
« on: January 16, 2009, 07:32:56 AM »
I'm looking for a heavy oil skid flip ball. My cell is strong but smooth I

want something strong throughout the lane and violent on the back. I was

looking into the virtual gravity, and before I just went and grabbed it I

wanted to post here to see if there is anything that deserves a look. I throw

between 15-16mph med revs and I track kinda high. I have most of my stats in

my profile. Any recommendations?

Uprising or No Mercy Beat'n or maybe whup'n (drilled correctly)..
I don't have either so I am just throwing it out there.  I was recommended the uprising when I was looking for a skid flip ball. It was brand new and didn't want to pay that much at the time ..
I'm wanting to get a beat'n or whup'n.. according to the BTM ball review chart the beat'n is the most backend ball(more backend rating then any other ball) , Ball with more Hook but slightly less back end is the morich Awesome hook.. but it has alot less length at 500 grit.. not sure what it would do at a higher grit.. not familiar with mo-rich
Most skid/flip I think would be  Hammer Venom or Track kinetic. I went with the Track Kinetic. Big backend, not angular but that is they way I drilled it..neither are for heavier oil though.

If you want a link to the ball review chart pm me.. I can't find the link right now. It is pretty usefull in looking for a certain type of ball or comparing balls against eachother.

Ogre SS is a ture skid snap from what I have seen. Also a Storm Paradigm domination was always mentioned as being pretty skid snap.

The Virtual Gravity is the most angular solid I've ever thrown, and it also requires more head oil to get it down the lane than any ball I've ever thrown.  But once it finds friction, it goes left in a hurry!

For true skid flip, wouldn't you want a pearl (skid through the oil and react hard to the backend friction)?

Survey says..............YES SIR.

Even drilled RICO, my Playmaker is borderline skid/flippy.

In that case I would say the Cell Pearl with a 4x4 drilling with 1.5" pin buffer. Pin up

Original Track Kinetic not a Pearl but great for skid snap, and will handle some heavy oil.

900 Global's Break Pearl is one of the stonger pearls I've thrown...wouldn't really say it's a heavy oil ball for me, but I don't have a lot of hand.

my opinion is go pearl or close to it. cell pearl, gravity shift, hyroad, buzzbomb r, or track up rising. most of the storm line works great. the virtual gravity is designed to be angular in heavy oil, so if the lanes don't have alot of head oil it will pick up to early.

Same here, Steve. I have a couple pearls with weak/smooth layouts that still have a skid-flip reaction. Coverstock is still the primary factor in ball reaction

There is no such thing as a skid-flip ball for heavy oil. There is no way to get "strong throughout the lane and violent on the back." The Virtual Gravity is a great ball, but it's not going to do the impossible. It has a nice mid-lane read and a strong, continuous backend.

Give up your search and work on your game. Try playing a straighter angle for a change. Move right and ball down if you want more entry angle. That, or change your hand position and increase your axis rotation.

Hey rev, easy there fella. I'm working on my game, and I also play straight quite often. When I said "strong throughout..." nice-midlane read and strong continuous is like the same to me. What i'm trying to do is get a ball right under the cell, I have an acid and it's archy as well. I have the ogre ss and I like it where it's at really long and snappy, it's too long to bring out after the cell. I want a med-heavy skid/flip or more angular than the cell. Heck I might be able to play that straighter angle you mentioned with it. Sorry if I offended you.
