lol! Mushtare in 204TH PLACE! LOL
« on: July 11, 2006, 01:35:11 PM »
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Heading into the 2006 United States Bowling Congress Junior Gold Championships, Robert Mushtare of Carthage, N.Y., had a simple goal. He wanted to average 200 for the tournament.

After two days of qualifying, Mushtare, the only bowler in history to have two certified 900 series, has some work to do to reach his goal. For his first 12 games, Mushtare has totaled 2,234, an average of 186.2.

The 17-year-old right-hander had games of 164, 200, 162, 188, 197 and 177 for 1,088 on Tuesday at Don Carter Tamarac Lanes for a 1,088 total. After Monday's first round, Mushtare sat in 204th place with 1,146.

"I think when I originally set my goal that it was reachable and it still is," said Mushtare, whose two pre-bowled 900 series were officially recognized by USBC last month. "It's going to take a good score tomorrow, but with all the attention and everything it has added pressure that I really didn't need."

Throughout his first two days of competition, Mushtare has been shadowed by a camera crew from ESPN's "Outside the Lines." The segment is tentatively scheduled to air on ESPN in late July.

In order for Mushtare to advance at the Junior Gold Championships, he must have a strong showing in the final six games of qualifying Wednesday. Early projections indicate he needs to average at least 210 to have a chance to make the first cut. The top 154 males will advance to the semifinals on Thursday.

OK, maybe not a whole cookie but a crumb of a cookie.

Here's a kid, he's just a KID, that has somehow managed to get sanctioned two 900 series.  And those series are under serious doubt by nearly every USBC member out there.  He bowls in his own folks' bowling center and prebowls his score.  More reason to suspect him for his over the top scores.

Now he's a kid.  And has no idea how this year is going to color his bowling career for the rest of his life.  No matter how he came about his 900s, he is now permanently branded by his fellow membership.  Not for a year or so, but probably for as long as this person bowls.  He'll be in his 60s, bowling in senior afternoon leagues and still have this crap hanging over his head.  Talk about mistakes in your past forever coloring your future.

Ehh, I've dropped the issue, why can't the rest of you? The USBC was forced to accept them, they couldn't get the evidence to say that he DIDN'T bowl them and apparently the 2 900s passed the requirements. I'm not saying he did it, cause I don't like him much either. But c'mon, it's annoying seeing this forum riddled with multiple posts about the kid and how bad he's doing. Give it up, he's not doing bad at all for a guy that hasn't bowled on a sport shot up to now.

Ok, you go take your 209 average and bowl with him on the same shot you bowl on and let me know what happens. Hell, I'll come with and take my 204 average on a shot and we'll party. Point is, he's out there bowling on shots that he has barely ever bowled on. Maybe it wasn't his first time, but a lot of those kids that are beating him have probably been to Junior Golds before. They've experienced it, and prepared for it. He tried to prepare for it, not knowing exactly what he was going to run into. We'll all go and bowl on a JOG shot and see how we do. Apparently you've got enough honor scores and you're pretty good for your age. So go bowl even on a JOG patter and then talk.

And on a more important note. Justin Whitley bowled a 300 yesterday, only the eleventh in JOG history. Of course...he didn't even bowl 200 at all (161, 167, 190, 186, 300 and 191), but he hit the 300. Now theres some REAL news we should be discussing.

If he is actually 204 out of over 900, that's not that bad.

no way about that 300 comment. this is in the jog tournament, you can't mess with scores there. besides, people get hot, he found his mark, and kept it. Nothing wrong with that at all..

I will go bowl him.. Any lane condition, w/e. Im sure i would score more than a 186.2, trust me. Im not thinking myself as "THE BEST" but im simply saying that he is a cheat, and usually cheats bowl like shhit like he is doing in jog.

I'm a fellow 200+ average bowler myself, and I couldn't barely keep over 171 average at my first sport shot tournament. It's not as easy as you may think it is.

Ok, Machine, please prove to me he is a cheat!!!!

Actually if you think about it, the first 900 that he tried to get approved, that got denied because he was not sanctioned at the time.  Wouldn't that be considered cheating?  You know considering he still had to sign his awards sheet.  If his league wasn't sanctioned and him and his family tried to get this by the USBC he got caught cheating flat out.  I actually deep down inside think that he may have shot the first one... The next two wern't shot, he only submitted them outa vengance of USBC straight up calling him out for the cheater he is.

Would there be this much talk about this if he was leading the pack?

Or would everyone be saying he prebowled those scores too?

I am ashamed for what USBC did for approving two 900s that I feel were not truthfully bowled, but I also feel bad for the kid... no matter what happens with the Junior Gold, be it finish dead last or win it, he'll never be looked upon as an equal in every other bowler's eyes.

Live by the 900, die by the 900, I guess!

I still love you Lisa, and you're still a very bright and witty individual in my eyes!

I totally agree with you...however, he's there and competing, and I have to give Mr. Mushtare his props for that.  Regardless of whatever happened, it's his to live up to.

I can only wish him well in his efforts and for what the rest of his bowling career and life might offer to him.

Toodles!

How anyone can defend this cheat is beyond me.  I'm sorry but to throw 2 pre bowled 900's is rediculous.  How anyone could believe that is beyond me.  This kid is a disgrace to the bowling world.  In fact I don't know why they would allow any pre bowled scores.

Who cares that hes not averaging the goal he set, but he is averaging higher than alot of people down.  hes 204th out of what, a 1,000.  To me that is pretty damn good considering he has never bowled on sports conditions.  we need to forget about this kid, atleast he was able to go down there, and try.
