Magic Carpet Gathering
« on: May 28, 2005, 02:57:57 PM »
Just talked to RonC, the gathering this year will be July 22-24, Creekside Lanes, Winston-Salem, NC

Who's coming.  Whole bunch of newbies out there that haven't had the pleasure of beating up on me.

Cuetec, although I don't know nearly as much about pool as I do bowling, I just enjoy it.  I use to play a lot when I was younger but haven't much over the years.

Just a word of caution, I've seem to have gained a bad reputation involving cue sticks & bowling balls.

Shouldn't bring them to the alley to be on the safe side.

Magic Carpet -- Could you give us a rough agenda for the two days, maybe post it on your website?  That would help me know what I could make and what I'll have to miss.  Thanks  --  JohnP

I was wondering what was meant by that earlier comment.

Feel like explaining?

Sorry, I forgot a lot of you haven't been to a previous gathering.

Couple of years ago Ron was steaching Pchee2 how to get the ball down on the lane by suspending a cue stick across the lane out by the arrows.

When I tried it my ball hung a little on my thumb.  Splinters everywhere.  I think the cue bounced across about 3 lanes.

I have a sub lined up and a back up for her if something happens, so I am making reservations.

When it comes to pool or golf, I will be the heckler/cheerleader.  You think my bowling is amusing?  It is nothing compared to my ability to play pool, and golf is even more amusing

I missed the pool stick incident and would really like to see it in person

Oops.  Better bring the checkbook for KOTM's bar bill.  I think I owe him a few.  Might be cheaper to invite him over for dinner where I can at least control the liquor price.

I have a nice pool cue, but it's in Alabama.  Just as well since I'm not very good anymore.  The house I have my eye on has a nice den perfectly set up for a table.

I'll be putting in my vacation request tomorrow so I can enjoy all of the festivities.  Hopefully there won't be any conflict.

Apparently no problems getting my vacation approved.

Now I just have to show up and attempt to not embarrass myself.

Sounds like a good mix of new people and some "old" friends.

I only live 15 minutes away now, so I'll be around Sunday for anyone who wants to bowl, talk, drink, or all of the above.

I've been to three of these in the past, and it was worth every minute of the 11 hour drive.

Maybe I can talk Ron into putting up the bumpers on my lanes so I can tell ZMan I didn't ditch one all weekend.  It's also another chance to whip up on some Lane #1 nuts  *cough* Jesse, Jeff, Darold *cough*.  Eh, maybe I'll take it easy on them since Lane #1 is providing some goodies.
