No more pre-bowling awards!!!

Thank you USBC. No more 900's for the Mushman. I'll bet anyone on this site that mushtare will never have another 900 for the rest of his life.

You can still boost up your average by pre-bowling but you can't get an award for it?  Hmm.

Did I miss that?

Yes. Although High Score awards will not be issued when pre- or post-bowling unopposed, the scores are official for league scores and are included in a bowler's average record.

Supposedly, it isn't about Mushtare?

No. This issue has been at the forefront of the continuing efforts of USBC to address challenges to the credibility of the USBC Awards program. While the Mushtare situation is the most recent and most publicized, the circumstances surrounding previous scores submitted for award consideration were the impetus for the development of the proposal adopted by the board.

It appears that if both teams choose to pre/post bowl the match together. Then they may still count. I suppose that assumption is based on the teams having mulitple players and making it harder to cheat.

Of course it is about Mushtare. If he had not made the claims of 900 this rule for awards would still be in effect. Again the stupidity of one ruins it for the rest!

Not to be like...how do I put this..um...an idiot, but if you bowl a prebowled honor score, is it really an honor score?

I've bowled honor scores in practice, but I don't count them.  To me anything you do that is not in a league....doesn't have to be sanctioned...doesn't count anyways.

Those were two seperate issues.  No one ever conceived of such a nightmare before Mushtare fired off his 19 900's during pre-bowling.  I think we should give the USBC credit for having tabled this discussion at the convention in April but instead of waiting till next spring to revise and finalize, they got it done before that.

Yes Dan, I know that. What I was trying to convey is that they should have addressed pre/post-bowling a year ago and not thought about the "tabled" issue. I'm glad they tabled it.

Way to convenient! It is like baseball implementing a steroid policy after some of the major power hitters acheive record statistics but yet looked the other way until they were caught! Track and Field went through the same thing in the 80's and 90's. Cheats are exposed in all aspects of life and the governing bodies react from being made to look foolish!

Everything counts...AS LONG AS...you have one member of the other team bowling...it says unopposed, problem solved. I have no problem with this.
