Sean Rash . . um, wow
« on: December 10, 2006, 04:18:46 AM »
He throws one of the best balls I've ever seen in my life, but he's being a SUPER prick right now.  Being from Kansas and having bowled against him a few times in juniors and seeing him shoot back to back 800's in the state tournament last year, I was naturally a fan, but the stuff he's doing on tv right now is really turning me off.  Yelling at the fans after beating Danny about "Who's your hometown hero now?" (or whatever he said), and then when Parker just playfully threw the towel at him, he just arrogantly flipped it up in the air and sauntered back to his chair.  He's a great bowler and he'll win plenty of tournaments, but I hope he grows up so I can start rooting for him again.

P.S., the Total is a BEAST . .

Another observation, this is the second time I've watched a Storm bowler, bowl the T-Road Pearl and the ball didn't perform as well as the Brunswick Inferno's or the MoRich balls. Perhaps the ball isn't all it's hyped up to be, or it was used on the wrong lane conditions, but it seemed to leave alot of spares.

Just my 2 cents

It's not always the ball... the bowler still has to find the right line, adjust correctly when needed and so forth.  Ryan Shaffer was playing deep inside when the show was won with more of a conservative swing shot from the track area.  That line didn't give him much room for error on the show.  As for Chris?  I don't really think I've seen him throw a solid game on TV this season.  Poor ball decisions and poor execution it seems.

Copied from the PBA board post I made on the same topic.

For all you people who didn't care for Rash's comments, get used to it. At WSU, they coach you to be extremely aggressive, and not just in shot making. Its not only to hype yourself up, its to get your opponent thinking about anything but bowling. Not saying Im all about it but they teach winners look for every edge possible and are willing to do whatever is necessary to win.

Last I checked Barnes is a WSU alumn...and although he may (from what I hear) do some chirping on the lanes, it would seem he is a little bit more "professional" on television.

i really don't think it was much more than youthful immaturity. he bowled tremendously today (he was the only one). i think if most of you (and certainly myself) were judged on some of things we said and did at that age we wouldn't pass the bar. i know there are several scuffed ball returns that i have made less than friendly contact with out there that would agree with me. i would suspect the hometown crowd comment has a ring of truth as they probably weren't rooting for him this week. that by no means validates his comments but he would have to work very hard to meet the level of immaturity that p d w has shown several times on tv. and i think p d w is a tremendous talent as well but i cannot stand to see him on the show as he always rubs me the wrong way. sean outbowled everyone far and away and deserved the spotlight.

It was not to psych out Danny Wiseman.  THE MATCH WAS OVER.  It was mathematically over when he said it.  I don't back PDW.  I'm not a hypocrit.  To go into someones hometown, and scream at the fans that came to watch your opponent AFTER you beat him is CLASSLESS.  Rash may be a great bowler, but, today, during that given comment, he was an ashhole.  I'm sick of the excuses, and the, "I've seen him bowl before, and he's nice" crap.  Today he was classless.

The MATCH was over, but the EVENT was not...  so six of one and half a dozen of the other.

Long, I cannot speak for him and why he did this. But think about it your on a roller coast HIGH at that point. You are living in the moment. In the light of all the talk about this being Danny's house, etc... I am sure he was thinking what he said and just didn't take the extra nanosecond to not say it and to keep it to himself. He instead expressed it for the world to hear. A youthful and in the moment mistake that if anyone has been in a situation similiar could and possibly has made/make before!

The first time on the show he wasn't classless at all!! So please don't judge him by one comment!

I won't think he, in general, is a classless person for today.  He just made a classless comment.  I, personally, was very excited to watch Danny bowl today, and think that he is good for the PBA with his "rocker" image.  I was also surprised that Danny didn't seem to be upset by the comment.  I can only hope that we missed some banter during the commercial breaks that would deem the comment as being harmless if you were there.

the guy won a very nice title, let him be...

now if later on Wiseman gets another title, and screams "im still hometown hero" then Sean Rash will understand why he shouldnt say that.

However, i understand the reason for Sean to act like that, and this is the reason

http://pba.com/news/feature.asp?ID=175

if i were Rash i would be mad as well, its ok that Wiseman is the hometown hero, but it seems they are all missing a very talented person whos also a hometown hero (proly near the future)

Actually, im with everyone that bowling shouldnt be about "entertainment", its about bowling.  Im sure the same people that LOVE Sean Rash & PDWs antics r the same people saying that TO's TD celebrations need to stop.

Bowling isnt about cutting down fans, or opponents, nor is it about crotch chops &  just being plain old annoying on TV.  Yes, im sure part of it is an act, both for pete & sean, but at the same time, it gets REALLY old.

As for the WSU coaching, im all for being agressive out on the lanes, get pumped, slap off, run out, scream, yell, do whatever u want.  Dont act like a middle aged, immature WWE wrestler, & dont cut people or their fans down.

You know, with all the erratic emotion that Rash shows, I'm really surprised it doesn't carry over into his game. I bowl quite a bit in tournaments with a guy in my area who has just as much power, speed, revs, and game as Sean... And oddly enough, this guy also has the amazingly erratic emotional reactions. However, this guy that I bowl against here lets his emotions carry over into his game significantly at times. Rash, on the other hand, doesn't seem to have this issue. Very surprising.

Today, Rash seemed like a mental midget... But his game stayed surprisingly solid and consistent.

Great bowling, Sean, albeit a bit on the immature side.

Dont get me wrong... but the only person bowling on todays show was PBIII. Wiseman and Lochetter tried to bowl but was not as sharp as PBIII. While Rash out scored everyone else he also sprayed the ball the most and simply matched up better than everyone else. Its a shame that the best bowler did not win. And Rash knows it and played off of it. Everytime he struck when he missed his target or break point simply pumped him up more and more. I wish I could throw the ball that hard, with that much hand and create as much area on the lane as he did and does. But today, no one was going to beat him because of his reaction not because he was splitting boards. As for his antics, this is what the game is becoming... more hand, more speed, more room and more arrogance when it is your turn at fame. This whole thing is a shame.

Ratings, ratings and more ratings! It's big publicity for the PBA, cause they know we'll tune in next time he makes a show, just to see what he may do. It's very hard to judge unless you are in that situation I guess.

He's a great bowler, and I will continue to watch him, and root for him. As for the other stuff, I'm not going to let it sway me a bit.

Screw being a prick because thats a whack statement, not when people cheer for Pete Weber and what he does. He's a rookie making himself known in his own way and I say let him, now the "Hometown" comment was rude just like when T.O. posed of the dallas star but it is what it is. Pete Weber is the reason for acts like Sean Rash so if you dislike Rash's actions you should dislike Pete's. Right or Wrong ladies and gentlemen?

I agree with pinchaser.  I made a similar post in the post in the MoRich forum.

I didn't care for Rash's comments.  I thought they sounded forced or prepared as well.  I don't care for when Weber gets over animated either.  Unlike Hose, I don't think bowling should try to be an in-your-face, super exciting, WWE fest.  Sure you can be excited and show true emotion when it comes.  We have enough jerks in the NFL and NBA.  Let's leave them there.
