jackal over under
« on: August 04, 2015, 05:29:52 AM »
On a fresh house shot with plenty of oil...If i play inside of 10 I get little reaction (right hand) If I move outside of 10 its perfect for about a game, then it loses its reaction all together. I have about 50 games on it, cleaned all the time etc...Its still OOB condition. Adjust surface? Polish? What bothers me is that playing inside, the ball doesnt react to the friction quick enough. Any suggestions?

Sounds like you don't have enough oil to play with where you are comfortable and too much oil for what you do to the ball. You have one of 2 options, either move your feet inward and add surface until you get the ball to stand up or you can use a higher grit and polish to get the ball down lane and smooth out.

Be aware that with surface, you're going to blow up the track area and it sounds to me like theres only so far in you can move before you hit your tipping point. By adding polish, you are going to make the smoother reaction of the Jackal push further downlane, which will not necessarily equal more "backend" reaction.

On a sidenote, you can put the ball up, until you find enough oil to be able to use it where you want. I believe you've had issues with HP releases burning up before. I would do a bit more research before your next HP purchase to ensure that you are getting what you need instead of the next "hot" ball. No point in buying a ball if you cannot use it or don't have the conditions to utilized the ball effectively.

Thanks....I don't have all HP balls... I have the Tag, Wrecker , manic, game breaker on the lower end...its probably right that the jackal is burning up. I might check out the Game Breaker 2 gold for the fall.

If anything the oil could be lighter volume. But this house is very consistent fall thru summer. With most balls when the lanes dry up the ball hooks to much and to soon. With the jackal it just stops hooking.

With you saying  "the ball stops hooking". It makes me think that there may be enough friction causing the ball to lose energy to where it just quits. Some people see this and call it "carrydown" and the ball hit some oil and just stopped hooking. But a ball that runs into too much friction, it will eventually just burn up all energy and quit. Although carrydown does effect reaction some, I don't see a small line of oil effecting the ball that much.

Sorry for the tangent but I would assume it is just dying before it finishes hooking.
The Jackal is a Heavy Oil ball.

I was overjoyed when I brought home my JACKAL and I couldnt wait to throw it but when I threw it the first time on a fresh shot, not flooded at all but there was a lot of oil on the lane, it went straight as an arrow.

So I went what the &*&^%$##@ I threw at OOB and it was a dud, I couldnt believe it as I thought I just spent a lot of $$$ on a freaking spare-ball so after seeing that it offered a very small hook I then tried doing what we are supposed to try

so I put it on my spinner and tried some polish, NOPE! so I put it on my spinner and tried some more polish, again NOPE!! so then I so I put it on my spinner applied some different AB-pads on it, NOPE!

So to make my long story longer :) I took it back to my driller and said, redrill it and put a 4 1/2 X 4 X 2 drill pattern on it and lets see what happens...BAM!! a hooking freaking beast!

So perhaps you need a stronger drill pattern on yours, dunno Bro, just making a suggestion for you as that ball is superb!! Good Luck!

seems pretty ridiculous that there are so many stories that people had to plug and drill their motiv equipment before it becomes what they want the ball to do.

I have 12 motiv balls and have never had to redrill anything. I have changed surfaces as I've had to do with all manufacturers. If you know your specs and what drilling a work for you then stick with them. When ever you drill and asymmetrical ball no matter what ball it is, drilling is critical. They are not nearly as forgiving as symetricals

OP, throw the ball on a verified heavy oil condition and let us know what it does.
