Bowlers

Just wanted to let you know, VMSBT will be running the 2nd Annual Baltimore/Washington Summer Scratch Classic again at BRC Perry Lanes August 15-16, 2009 paying $3,000 1st place GUARANTEED.  Last year we had 139 entries and we expect that number to increase this year. Just like last year, I will be taking reservations via the website: http://www.vmsbt.com/VMSBT_Form.html and you can also view the flyer for the event there as well: http://www.vmsbt.com/BWSSC_2009.pdf

I will also have the pattern up on the website as soon as I determine which pattern I want to use. As some of you may know, I’m a big fan of Kegel patterns and we will have another one this year.

•   Entry fee:  $140 ($115 prize fund, $20 lineage, $5 expenses) payable by CASH ONLY
•   Survival boards: $10/ea (Starting games 2, 4 and 6)
•   High game pot: $40 (covers all 8 games of qualifying)
•   Winner Take All (WTA): $10 (Game 8 ONLY)
•   Brackets: $5/ea (3 sets) Starting games 2, 4 and 6
•   High Game of Day (Included in entry fee)
•   High Senior out of the money prize (50 and over bowlers)
•   High Female out of the money prize

THE LANES WILL BE STRIPPED AND RE-OILED AFTER THE 9AM SQUAD.

Please pass the word along about this great event to all your friends. We are only taking 88 bowlers per squad.

Looking forward to getting those reservations.

QUESTION???

Of those asking for more tournaments, did you bowl BWSSC? Some of you I know the answer since I know your screen name or you actually sign your name to your post.

I am ready to pass the plate around after that sermon! ... Can I get an AMEN!

Trump - You can't knock the monthly events. Some folks just don't have the $140 plus bracket money, etc. Some folks are still getting their feet wet with tournament bowling. I can't tell you how many bowlers have come out to VMSBT & 40 Boards to "cut their teeth" and then venture out into other scratch events. You still need those events to pickup bowlers either who have never heard of the respective tours or are building themselves up to bowl with higher calibur bowlers.

$285 is an awfully expensive lesson for a non-member to learn with the pros in a regional. 40 Boards, VMSBT & Triple Threat offer tournaments that will or have featured various patterns at a much cheaper entry than $285.

I do see your line of thinking but just can't see the concept of 4 BWSSCs a year being very successful.

I totally see your point Tony.  Not knocking the regular monthly events at all.  Just saying with the big events you don't have to win for a decent ROI.

I would bowl 4 of your monthly events before every bowling a regional and would recommend others to do the same as well.  $285 for a non-member is ridiculous!

I still think you should consider 2 Big events a year so us boys from NY would have something good to look forward to every 6 months.  We don't mind driving as you already know!

Thanks for seeing my line of thinking.  I'm usually always right!

@Trump
Since you are in NY, you do have two big tournaments to look towards. January you have Carolier and then August you have BWSSC. Don't know if you came to Opposites Attract but there were plenty of folks receiving that ROI you are seeking. -)

Gang

There will be some changes next year.

#1 NO LONGER ANNOUNCING PATTERN AHEAD OF TIME. I will post the pattern at the tournament site before the 9:30am squad starts.

#2 Venue change.... STAY TUNED

I like the idea of not announcing the pattern. I wonder if that would draw more to come or cause more to stay home because of the various reasons people come up with. Nonetheless, great addition to a great tournament!

Why the change of venue?

Stay tuned... We may not be moving it. Have to work out some "minor kinks".
