Hurd out with eye injury after attack!!
« on: January 30, 2007, 02:37:30 AM »
Jason Hurd is in eye surgery this morning for a detached retina sp?? He was sucker punched on friday night inside Sunset Station by an off duty Station employee. He was coming to defend Tony Reyes who was being verbally attacked about PBA bowlers being a joke. Jason never saw the punch coming and probably will lose his exempt status from not making it points wise now, he is probably going to be out the rest of the year.

Pray for Jason and i hope Station pays his bills and the PBA defers his exempt status for next year, this is a disgrace to Vegas and Station Casinos.

Becky,

To a degree I agree there. But they are off the clock therefore on their own time. If an employee strikes you on the clock the establishment should be held liable. But off the clock  they only represent that establishment and therefore that is why they will probably be fired. But they still should enlight of what happened take care of any of Jason's bills. As far as Jason going after Station Casino's I am sure they have the best lawyers money can buy and they will end up telling him to go after the people who did this to him! I am sure they will provide him with names or whatever he may need.

Well I used to work at a casino and it was stated in our contract that we were not allowed to drink on/off the clock, because we represented the casino at all times. I am not trying to cause a stir, but I believe casino/employee are both at fault. If not for the guy who threw the punches then for the bartenders who did nothing. Whatever happens in this case will happen. That is not important to me. What's important to me is Jason's health first and foremost. We will all have our own opinion, but I do believe everyone will agree with me that they all wish Jason a speedy and full recovery!

From what I heard when he got punched he fell down and hit his eye on the counter in the bar and that caused most of the damage.

If that was the case his left eye would have been cut not the right. He got sucker punched when he wasn't looking, and then when he was on the ground.

Best wishes to Jason for a full and speedy recovery.  Hopefully the thugs will be held fully accountable.  May their cell mates be big and nasty.

Thats nuts! I hope jason has a speedy and *fingers crossed* full recovery. Seemed like one of the true nice guys on tour. I hope these thugs get what is coming to them. As Strider said... may their cell mates be big and nasty.

Why are people messing with PBA bowlers to begin with?  What did they do to anyone?  I read one post of a tournament where 4 PBA bowler's cars were broken into.  What is up with that?  And now this?  The PBA needs to make this news nationwide.  It will bring more attention to the PBA and Jason Hurd can get some backup as I think he should sue the Casino and then the guys that did this.  It is the casino's responsibility to protect those inside of it.  I was just there this past December and it is a rule stated in all casinos that they are responsible to protect player's money and well-being.  This whole thing is BS if Jason Hurd doesn't get paid big time from the lawsuit.  Good luck Jason!

I would be willing to bet all I have that the guys were drunk or alcohol was the main factor. Don't you know young men can be BIG men when they are drunk?

Also, I agree that Jason should look into a lawyer and see what is in the works after he recovers.

Shipper, you would win your bet.  The guy that I talked with, who was there, said that the assailant was totally wasted.

One of the reasons I don't hang out in places where people get drunk.

You just never know what may happen.

I apologize if I missed reading a post that addressed this point, but did Tony Reyes get injured as well?  This is a tragic story and I wish a full and speedy recovery for Jason.

I my not always agree with you Pinbuster, but we agree here. I haven't had a drink in 17 months and didnt like drunks when I drank. Especially young drunks.. Too macho if you know what I mean.
