52604 - Roto Grip / Hustle BRY AND XRAY Reviews
« Last post by StormAndrew on May 05, 2024, 04:37:46 PM »
The biggest bang for your buck in performance is back with the new Hustles. The XRAY provides a smooth controllable shape with the BRY being cleaner and more angular.
I tested both these balls after the Road and was impressed with the performance of both of them. Typically, I do not throw or bring extremely weak equipment as my rev rate is on the lower side although I intend on bringing the XRAY to league this week where the surfaces hook extremely early. Both Hustles read the body of the lane well and provided plenty of continuation through the pins as seen in the video.

The Hy-Road series continues with The Road and all new AI technology. The Road is designed for benchmark predictability and is high RG and medium diff.
I tested the Road on a fresh THS and the results were very promising. I was able to play up the lane and keep my angles tight. The Road didn't overreact to the friction and saw the oil enough to read it correctly without losing energy. As I began migrating left, The Road continued to drive through the pins without laboring.
I intend on using The Road on a variety of conditions and situations from fresh to transition. For those who see earlier hooking lane surfaces The Road will be an excellent option to start with. The Road will, also, be a great step down off the bigger and lower RG balls.

Storm The Road Ball Review
Layout
VLS-4.75x4x2
Dual Angle 50x4.75x30
Storm The Road uses the core from the HyRoad series but it’s using the AI Technology wrapped with the REX cover stock in a hybrid version.
The Road will be a great compliment to the Hyroad series and it’s stronger than the original Hyroad and the Hyroad Pearl.
The Road for me will be a great option when my Summit Peak is too strong but the OG Hyroad isn’t strong enough.
The Road reads the midlane very nice but with great continuation on the backend.
If you feel the OG Hyroad isn’t strong enough The Road will be the go to choice.
I’m very glad to see the Inverted Fe2 core to continue and now with AI technology it’s going to be a home run.

Storm The Road - Thunder Line
Coverstock: ReX Hybrid - Reacta Gloss
Core: Inverted Fe² A.I.
RG: 2.55   Differential: .045 (15 lbs)
Fragrance: Fruit Pop
Layout: 5 ¼  x 5 ¾ x 3
PAP: 6" Right, 1 3/8" Up
Axis Tilt: 16°
Rotation: 51°
Rev Rate: 450-500
Speed: 17-18 mph
Location: Vista Lanes - Yorkville, NY
Pattern: 2023 USBC Jr. Gold
Lane Surface: HPL

The Road is the newest release in the Thunder Line and it takes the success of the Hy-Road to the next level. It was designed to be versatile, predictable, and help bowlers of all styles conquer a variety of medium volume lane patterns. The Road features the ReX Hybrid coverstock with the proven Inverted Fe² weight block enhanced with A.I. core technology. The hybrid cover is clean through the fronts and helps save up plenty of energy to create a strong continuous backend reaction. The Road gave me a good look sliding on 22, looking 12 at the arrows with my breakpoint around 7. As I moved left and slowed down, it looked even better. When compared to the VEBO, The Road is about 5 boards weaker and picks up sooner. The Road may not be the first ball out of my bag for league or tournaments, but I can see it coming into play once stronger balls struggle to take out the corner pins. Stop by your local Storm VIP pro shop to check it out! Available on April 19th.

Bowler Stats:
Speed: 15.5 MPH
Rev Rate: 250 RPM
Tilt: 6.6 degrees
Axis Rotation: 80 degrees
PAP: 4 5/8 over 1 5/8 up

Layout: 5 X 4 X 21/2 VLS

Video Review: https://youtu.be/CPu85zVdjyg

With the release of the Absolute Power I was hoping it would fit in my arsenal better than the original Absolute. The original had a lot of under/ over ball reaction for me since the core is so strong and the R2S Deep Hybrid cover is so clean. On this release I put a benchmark type of layout on it to have a smoother more controllable ball motion out of this strong asymmetrical piece.

This ball with the stronger Sentinel core and R2S Deep solid coverstock gives me a ball I match up better with and it has a similar but earlier ball motion than the Rubicon. By using a benchmark layout I have a more predictable ball motion to help me see when the lanes are transitioning.

The R2S Deep Solid cover is also a versatile cover and can be used at different grits and even polished. This ball is versatile for me on the PBA 50 Tour. I am able to use it on multiple patterns.

59297 - Storm / Storm Lightning Blackout
« Last post by Steven.Collins913 on May 03, 2024, 07:55:57 AM »
Dual Angle Layout: 55 x 4 1/2 x 25
Storm Vector Layout: 4 ½ x 4 ½ x 1 5/8

This ball is GOOD!!! Based on the numbers I was expecting something similar to the IQ Ruby, but the REX cover is much stronger.  The ball gives me good length, solid midland reaction, and a strong backend.  The REX cover is quickly becoming my favorite cover stock from Storm.  The Lightning Blackout seems to be a bit earlier and stronger than The Road, so it gives me a great 1-2 punch on house shots.

18590 - Roto Grip / Re: Roto Grip Optimum Idol
« Last post by hammermike2000 on May 02, 2024, 02:03:12 PM »
Layout: 40 x 4 ¼ x 35

Finally...the wrongs of the original Idol being discontinued have been righted!  The original Idol solid was one of the best bowling balls that Roto Grip has ever released, and the introduction of the Optimum Idol brings the Idol line back to prominence.  The addition of AI technology to the Ikon core creates a slightly stronger midlane motion – overall, I do find this Optimum Idol to be a tad bit earlier, smoother, and overall more motion than that original Idol.  That means that the Optimum Idol is absolutely perfect for heavy to medium-heavier oil conditions.  Once the lanes dry up, this ball will begin to hook too early...but, it isn't intended for those conditions anyways.

56554 - Hammer / Hammer Arctic Vibe (WWRD 5/16/2024)

Hammer Arctic Vibe       @15lbs 2.510 .042    HK22
WWRD 05/16/2024    Alternate Cores 12-13lbs & 10-11lbs Volume- Light to Medium
Core- Vibe         Coverstock- HK22 CT Max Hybrid (NEW)
Another Vibe? Yes! What makes this one different is not only the HK22 base, but it is the first Hybrid Vibe offered in the States. With the CT Max Hybrid package, the Arctic Vibe will traction earlier than the Ocean Vibe and give more overall hook than the Radioactive Vibe. One of FTF’s favorite balls is the Hammer Scorpion Low Flare. But even that ball can start up too early with enough friction. The Arctic Vibe would be a perfect step down. The striking 2 color look of this ball is sure to get noticed. This is another ball that will outperform its price point.

56554 - Ebonite / Ebonite Fireball Purple/Gold (WWRD 5/16/2024)
« Last post by Juan Fonseca on May 02, 2024, 12:37:03 PM »
Ebonite Fireball Purple/Gold   @15lbs 2.519 .039   DynamiCore/HK22
WWRD 05/16/2024          10-16 lbs   Alternate Cores 11-12 lbs & 10-11lbs
Volume- Light to Medium   Core- Fireball   Coverstock- HK22 GB11.2 Pearl (NEW)

Ebonite introduced the Fireball core on 9/21/2023 and those who purchased one found a motion that wasn’t in the line at the time. The new Ebonite Fireball has the same core. There is a different additive package and that’s the GB11.2 Pearl which gives an earlier but same motion than the original. If you have the GB4 Hybrid and it gets too strong due to friction, the Ebonite Fireball Purple/Gold would be a nice transition ball. The proven DynamiCore adds more value to this fantastically priced ball. Bowlers who use lower weights will enjoy the Ebonite Fireball Purple/Gold.
