your best ever ROTO GRIP ball?
« on: February 25, 2012, 01:31:12 AM »
The title speaks for itself. what do you think is the best ROTO ball ( so far ) past / present and why? I have recently started to use Roto so my pick is the CRITICAL THEORY -  very consistant, seems to be my go to ball most of the time. I have 2 Criticals with different layouts. The RISING STAR is just as good as well so I may have to say both are the best.

Back when I was a big RG fan, It would had to be my Retro Blue and  Red, followed by the Resurrection and Epic Battle.

Can't believe this post is still here! It all depends on the condition I'm playing:

Hvy-Medium Hvy: Epic Battle, Theory, Cell, Nomad, Outlaw and Infinite Theory

Medium: Infinite Theory, Outlaw, Horizon, RSP, Mystic, Silver Streak, Riot

Light Oil: Ultra-Sonic, Sonic-X, Saturn, Riot, Nomad Pearl, Retro Blue

I love all of these and still use them!

As of recently, I would say my best is the Rogue Cell. The ball is extremely versatile and allows me to play multiple lines.

The Epic Battle was my favorite until it cracked. They need to bring back the partice

Silver Streak Pearl
Sonic X Pearl
Cell Pearl

Guess I match up better with pearls, and have not yet had a RG that I didn't like.

The Sonic Boom when it is right is really right!

I also liked the Sonic X solid on some wood lanes that were very reactive.

Yummy on both!

I now have to add a third ball that really made the list for me.  I definitely enjoyed the Nomad Dagger, and my Defiant is great in heavy oil.

However, I can now say hands down that the Rogue Cell is a great complement to the Defiant.  I've now used the Rogue Cell on some heavier conditions and some shots with carry down where that hybrid cover allows me to go through the front really clean but get a nice, strong backend that is predictable.  I found one used for cheap and less than 20 games on it.

I am really glad that I drilled that bad boy up. In fact, I think it could easily take the place of my 919C and wouldn't think twice about it.

I just recently pulled out my original SD 73 from the basement since 2003 and cleaned it up. I been using it in my pba experience league and its great, shot 689 on shark pattern with it, when highest series besides me was 540 for that night. Still an excellent ball.

For me it was the Silver Streak Pearl as my favorite RotoGrip ball. They need to make that ball again. I had the Nomad Pearl and loved it because it had the same core as the Silver Streak Pearl. Wish I could find another one.

The epic battle was without a doubt the best one for me.  The defiant wasn't bad but it wasn't close to the epic battle

Back in the day, the Roto Star blue polyester ball. Great ball. The answer to the Yellow Dot.

RS/P was my favorite I had three of these and they all worked well together.  I wish I could get my hands on one now just to see if they still got it.
