A question on Storm balls...
« on: September 25, 2006, 02:23:56 PM »
I have heard quite a number of comments regarding the short lifespan of Storm balls. Any true in this statement ?...It's really sad, the Pro shop actually have quite a number of Storm balls but now you can only see Brunswick and Ebonite in his shop...have actually approached him and his answer was that nowadays Storm ball sales is really bad because a number of bowlers complain to him about the ball's short life span...so that why he decided to stop stocking them.
I was rather disappointed, the last Storm ball I have was the ACE and it a damn good ball..

Have owned over 30+ Storm Balls, have had no problems with the life of them. Now some may not have worked for me, but that happens. But nothing even wrong with the life of the ball itself. hope this helps!

I haven't had a Reactor ball yet, but my rather old and trusty Trauma and Eraser Particle Pearl (both Accu Tread base, both polished) are still going strong.

Although, I sold an X-Factor RE-Loaded because the coverstock was/is IMHO crap, needed constant sanding to keep up performance. Hard to say if the ball was dead - it worked, but the surface was very touchy.

I would say the guy is an idiot, but that is just a guess.  Does he still carry The One and the Big One after people complain that they don't last very long?

I think any bowling ball will last if you take care of it.

Define "short lifespan" so that others can chime in and say how many games they have on their Storm equipment.  What is a short lifespan?  100 games?  1000?

My tripple X factor is still rolling good, after about 700-800+ games with it.

i'm still throwing an original eraser with about 500+ games on it, only been resurfaced once, and i can out hook people throwing their one's and big one's
it's about ball maintenence people, thats why manufacturers make ball CLEANER, they have to be cleaned every now and then. find a pro shop with a rejuvenating machine to remove the oil in the ball.

I honestly do think the old Storm balls, like in the mid-90's did have short lifespans. I knew a lot of people who thought that at the time, and once the origianl Thunder and Lightning came out, it kind of got them out of it. But now I don't see Storm balls with a short span as much as I use too.

OK, this may be a stupid question, but I am going to ask since I have been told that I am not that bright anyways. Someone told me that once a STORM ball loses its smell, the ball is dead. Now, is that a true statement or is this guy just trying to act smarter then he is?

He may get better deals on ebonite and Brunswick.  Ball death shouldn't bother a pro shop.  That just means more balls for him to sell.

I have Storm balls with over 200 games on them and they still react wonderfully. I use the Storm cleaners and have zero problems with their reaction.
