For me it was the Ebonite Thunderbolt. Those glory days.(to much Bourbon) This is beginning to sound like Al Bundy and "Polk High"

The Beast was reactive.

I don't know, My Beast was Urethane, then later they came out with the reactive version. The way you could tell was each one of the versions had a different amount of teeth on the ball.

You're talking about the Beast-C, which a lot of people called the "C-Beast (pronounced "sea beast"). I'm about 90 percent sure the reactive beast (the purple one) actually came out first. The Beast-C, which was kind of bluish/greenish/grayish came out next. It had the Ceramicore/Beast core with a urethane shell. I knew a lot of high-rev guys who loved that thing because it was smooth on the back.

I dont think so, I had my Beast the same time the Blue Hammer was out. I think it was in the early 90's, and it was purple. I know I had that ball before I had my Burgandy Hammer.

They only made two urethane Beasts, and they are both blue.  The Blue Beast:

And, the Ti-Beast:

All the other Beasts that were made were either polyester or resin.  The resin one was the first one produced, all the others came later.  I hope this helps!

lol, I'm young, but I've thrown my fair share of urethane equipment (more than I can name off)
Although my favorite has been the Black Hammer, with the Burgandy being a second (barely still urethane, but still is lol)

Original blue Nail by Faball
Brunswick LT-48
Never owned one, but I can remember the nights when over 50% of a competitive mens league used Blue Hammers.

The first bowling ball I ever bought.  Columbia 300 Beast.  Yes the Blue Urethane Beast.  I still have it.  Shot my one and only sanctioned 300 with it.  I bought it in 1994, and shot 300 in 1995.  Cost me $100, and I used to clean it religiously, wouldn't let anyone else use it ever, and it helped raise my average from a 115 to a 157, then to a 187 the following year.  Did I mention I was 13-15 in this time?

I pull this ball out once a year for league during the week anniversary of when I shot my 300.  This year I shot a 697 with it.  It still hits very well.

I wish I could still use it all the time, but with the changing of the oil comes the changing of the equipment, so a lot of places it just glides down the lane
