Thong, I have to give you kudos for removing the subject to a more defined thread. As I stated in the previous thread, I think a good amount of those taking the Level 1, 2 and Bronze are doing so for the benefit of the youth programs out there.
This is something that I did not have when I was in youth programs, or most other bowlers who are in my generation and before, and soon after for that matter. I think the impact of certified coaches working with the youth today will only strengthen our sport. Of course then there will be those that still say the scoring pace is too high, the shot is too easy witbout taking into account the benefits the youth have today with educated coaching to get them those higher scores because they are taught the basics so early.
I'm Bronze level. Don't really enjoy coaching youth that much unless they are older, but enjoy teaching bowling to any that want to learn. I'm not a parent, don't want to be even a part time parent by babysitting any number of kids that are bowling on any particular afternoon or Saturday. As a certified coach I don't think I'm fully utilized by making sure that Joey puts down his French Fries & soda and bowls when his turn is up....on the correct lane. I leave that up to those that have a calling for it. Now if anyone no matter what age, really wants to learn to bowl then I'm all for that. So I basically coach adults and those youth that really want to learn.
Most Silver Level coaches are wasted on the majority of the youth, bowling on a weekly basis. But I do think that Level 1, 2 and Bronze are the basic minimum that those wanting to coach the youth should obtain.
