Hurd out with eye injury after attack!!
« on: January 30, 2007, 02:37:30 AM »
Jason Hurd is in eye surgery this morning for a detached retina sp?? He was sucker punched on friday night inside Sunset Station by an off duty Station employee. He was coming to defend Tony Reyes who was being verbally attacked about PBA bowlers being a joke. Jason never saw the punch coming and probably will lose his exempt status from not making it points wise now, he is probably going to be out the rest of the year.

Pray for Jason and i hope Station pays his bills and the PBA defers his exempt status for next year, this is a disgrace to Vegas and Station Casinos.

Having had a retina detatch myself and having gone through the surgery to reattatch it my prayers are with Jason. In my case the surgery was not successfull as the retina detatched again about 6 weeks after the surgery and i am now blind in that eye.

I pray for a speedy and complete recovery for jjason

Just an FYI, I have independent confirmation of all  of this from another who was there.  I am  told that it was pretty bloody, security was called for (repeatedly) to no avail and that the person who hit Jason was pretty wasted and was arrested, along w/ a friend.

Here's hoping that it all turns out OK for Mr. Hurd  and that the scum who hit him gets to room with Bubba for several years.

So it was really a fight like the original poster said?  That almost seems unreal.   Anything can happen if you get sucker punched though.  I remember big story around here where a teen was sucker punched on his temple and he actually died.

Definition
A retinal detachment occurs when the retina is pulled away from its normal position in the back of the eye. The retina sends visual images to the brain through the optic nerve. When detachment occurs, vision is blurred. A detached retina is a very serious problem that almost always causes blindness unless it is treated.

Wow that's more serious than I thought.  That is pretty unfair.

ok, well here it is in a nutshell.

Tony was coming out of restroom when 2 guys who were related approached him. They were both hassling him, I started to go to him and then one shoved him in the back. I then asked, told and insisted the female bartender to call security and she did nothing. IMO had she called right then and there none of this would have happened. The guys still harassing Tony as he kept walking away from it all. He did nothing to keep the situation going, he just kept walking away. The brothers were pretty drunk, and they were going to start a fight with whomever. I then asked the male bartender to call security and he just shrugged his shoulder. Both bartenders were watching everything unfold. One of the brothers, who worked for the casino. Jason came walking up the steps asked what was going on and got sucker punched by this A**hole. Jason slipped on the wet floor and the bothers then both started hitting him when he was on the ground. That is when security arrived!!! A lil bit too late!!!

This should have never happened. It frustrates me to no end knowing it could have ALL been avoided once the bartender was informed!

It's hard not to be cynical when horrendous things like this can happen...I wish Jason well.

Everone called it "The Circle Bar." Not sure if that was it's real name.
Has Blackjack tables in front of it.

I saw Jason walking around in The Orleans on either Saturday or Sunday. Pretty sure it was Sunday. He looked fine to me.

Ok, yea that bar actually goes by 3 names.. Center Bar, Circle Bar, and Echo Bar. I was just hoping it wasn't the Bowling Center bar... I happen to know just about all the bartenders that work in that bar, so I am glad to hear it wasn't any of them that wouldn't help you out with security.

I am sorry to hear about the whole situation and that it happened.

I did hear though that the male bartender supposedly called security like after the second time I asked him, but well too late if he did call. Like I said I am soo FRUSTRATED it even got to that point! Especially asking quickly so this could have all been avoided.

I don't feel the PBA will take this as a reason to not come back. I have dealt with the people at that bar many many times and they are usually more than willing to help. I am sure Station Casino's will do its own review and if they feel a bartender didn't do their job, I am sure the appropriate actions will be taken against them! I am sure I will hear through the great vine about this particular bartender and keep you guys posted on it.

The person who Jason should be going after is actually the person/persons that did this to him! If everything is correct and they were off duty employees there, I am sure they no longer are employees there by now or for that matter allowed back in to at least Sunset Station.

I feel that if a Casino or anyplace of work allows their employees to drink off duty, they should also be liable for their actions! You should ALWAYS conduct yourself properly even off duty at your place of work!
